You need to run IBT AVX and verify it is not overheating or throttling, or even both.... and also verify that it is actually stable.

Ok. I just ran prime95 for about 35 minutes. Temps didn't go higher than 65 on the cpu. I will look into those tonight

I'm thinking of purchasing a AMD card specifially the Sapphire 390. First time AMD user, I'm scared about driver stability having heard horror story about their past drivers. Should I be concerned? Is the purchase valid over the 970.

Both sides always have had and always will have small driver issues depending on your setup and the games you play. No use worrying about it unless you find mention of problems with what you specifically want to do. Overall, except for power consumption a 390 is a stronger card than a 970.

Im guessing running my card at 1150 / 1525 with no added voltage at 78-80 degrees full load is okay right? With the side of my case off it drops to around 73-74 at full load, probably just very poor airflow i need to do something about soon.

You may have read this already, in my opinion this site was quite harsh when the 300 series came out. However I think this is a good review and a true picture of how good the 390 is. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/sapphire-nitro-r9-390-8g-d5,4245.html - I have 390x and drivers where never really an issue for me in fact I have been on the last two betas.

That sounds good to me, my second 290X needs all the volts it can get to do that, what is your fan curve like? or is it stock?

I changed the curve a bit, i have never really set a fan curve, always just used the default one, but i wanted to run with a bit of fan speed instead of the zero frozr thing.

This is how mine looks at the moment.
That quite a gentle curve which explains your temps I have mine to ramp up to 100% at 75oC

I just realized I never got my name on the official 390X/390 owners club. Here's my pics, it's an XFX DD R9 390 core edition. Please add me when you get a chance. thumb.gif

Let us know how this card does. I've had my eye on them as well as the Nitro's.
