Yup! I would think that if a manufacturer does it, it's kinda safe. I mean, yes, the Sapphire has a different PCB, cooler etc, but come on, if it was anything dangerous at all they wouldn't risk it. Unless the MSI and Sapphire cards work so differently that it's cause for concern, but I seriously doubt that. So, +50mV AUX for me. And on a side note, when buying this card I thought that overclocking the memory was useless. Glad to see I was wrong. There is a performance improvement just by upping the memory clocks, even if it takes a significant overclock to see it.

Now... Another thing. I finally upgraded to Windows 10 yesterday (had to force the damn thing, it wouldn't do it on its own even though I had reserved my copy) and Catalyst is gone. I mean, the GPU works fine and all and Afterburner recognises the driver as 15.10. I just can't get into CCC. I tried unistalling and reinstalling the drivers, but nothing happened. Any ideas? At this point I'm too bored to do much and I'm thinking about waiting for the 15.11 driver, but still... Driver cleaning maybe?

PS : I can't seem to find 15.9 anywhere.... Only 15.10 and 15.7.1. What's up with that?

Wasn't 15.9 the buggy driver? I've been on 15.8 for awhile now. Did u do a clean install of Windows? Did you try DDU uninstaller?

Yup, that solved it. My boredom leads to problems once more. Oh well. tongue.gif

Thanks man!

15.9 had the memory leak, you're correct. 15.9.1, the fixed version, worked really well for me though. 15.10 messed my overclocks as I've already posted about. Anyway, I can live with it til the next one is out.

How do you guys get these driver updates? I've been stuck with 15.7 for like the longest time. Those updates only pop out as beta drivers when I manually check for updates but that's about it

Edit: nvm you guys were talking about beta drivers derp

Just got off work, spent the last 2 hours running benchmarks. UNFORTUNATELYYYY I don't have FRAPS installed or any other FPS counter that I could use for my run of GTA V or any other game that doesn't have a built in benchmarker, so my results for GTA V is an estimate. ALSO unfortunately, I don't actually have Microsoft excel, so I don't have an easy way of making a bar graph, so for now, here are my results in text form!

Stock clocks

1010/1500

GTA V (Max EVERYTHING)
25FPS Avg

Fire Strike

3DMark Score 9908

3DMark Score 10060

Combined Test 21.77 fps

GTA V

TL;DR- I wouldn't say that the temperatures are excellent, but I can't break 80C no matter what I throw at this card. I was able to get a ~10% OC without touching the voltage resulting in a ~10% increase in all benchmarks! I'm VERY happy with this card!

EDIT: Just realized I haven't been added to the list! Here is my screen shot

Did you try using the on-screen display for fps and other counters that MSI Afterburner uses to bench GTA V? I don't think you should be only getting an avg of 30 fps with that card especially with the OC. I am running on a XFX R9 390 and have it OC'd to 1135 MHz and 1625 Mem Clock. and I am getting well over 60 fps and sits more in the 70-80 range most of the time. Then again I am running on 1080p and a 60 hz monitor and you may be running on something more demanding like 1440 or 4k.

I'm running a 1080p 144hz monitor. The kicker is this is max everything. Literally. AA kicked up to x8 or x16, etc. There were a few options that had absurdly high settings, don't increase graphics that much, but decrease performance by a lot. I could easily turn down a few knobs and still have a pretty gaming running well above 100, but whats the point of a benchmark to compare to other cards if it's not MAX? biggrin.gif

Also, I do have MSI AB, and I do have the onscreen counter. Does AB have a built in FPS counting tool that will give me an Avg FPS over time?

Ah, okay makes sense for sure. I do have everything MAX settings except I forgot that I saw a lot of people saying how the Advanced graphic settings are super taxing even with our huge 8 gigs of memory. I forgot that I turned them off and got literally double the fps I was getting with them turned on/up. The game really didn't look any less appealing with them being off either so I figured I would rather take the FPS boost. Regardless I bet the game looks spectacular on 1440hz (hope to be my next upgrade).

As far as an FPS counting tool, you can always use the graph and tell it to monitor your FPS and just increase the span of time that you want it to show in the settings and when you close out of the game take a look and see where your jumps and dips are. That's what I do.

Guys I am buying Sapphire Nitro R9 390 for 3D rendering, so it will be running for several hours., should I get it with backplate or without?
