Put an AIO cooler on it. (redmod)

Shuts them right up. thumb.gif

I've done it about 10 times now to both Nvidia and AMD cards. Hard to beat the lower temps and noise. Hard to go back to air honestly. Not sure I could.

Yeah, I have an actual waterblock coming for it already but I don't know if I'm going to use it. I'm so, so tired of having to compromise one thing or another to use AMD cards. After I sold my 970 and Gsync monitor, its been nothing but frustration for almost an entire year. 4 Furies, 3 290X, a dead 270 and this 390X later and I'm still not able to just have fun and enjoy my games.

Odd, your experience is so far from what I have experienced. I've easily had as much or more trouble with Nvidia cards. I have no preference between them really. Right now, I may lean slightly more toward AMD if anything. I'm still mad about getting a 3.5gb card on my 970 that was supposed to be 4gb. Still makes me mad. It runs fine sure, but so does my 290/290x's. I'm sure its frustrating though.

I feel like you are probably a small minority of people.....

I've gone through 4) 7900 series cards, 1) 280x, 2) 290's, 2) 390's and now a Fury in the last 2 years and haven't really had any problems except with the 280x which had a wide spread issue with VRAM overvoltage due to Asus own mistake..... and then a little coil noise on my current Fury, but nothing major in any case where I couldn't "enjoy my games.."

Sorry to hear about your results though....

I doubt anyone besides extreme benchers or reviewers (probably miners too) have seen as many AMD cards as I have, since the 7900 series launched I can count at least 60 without even thinking about it and I know there were plenty more. And there is always, ALWAYS a problem. Every single time, bar none. Either a driver issue with the game I want to play, coil whine, DOA junk, (looking at you 7950's), Freesync issues or something else that makes me have to fiddle fart around with them for ages before giving up and moving to the next one. Nvidia has a buttload of problems too, it just so happened that the last Nvidia card I used was pretty straight and everything just managed to work without issues. Right now I've been troubleshooting Fallout 4 for about 12 hours and managed to play through the intro. My 950 runs it like a champ, add the 390X to the mix and I get 27fps hard locked.

I have no issues with my msi390, runs quiet and cool. Maybe there's something wrong with the fan Hemanse? Scorpion the only thing I can think of is a thermal paste issue.

Edit, wrote this before i saw the other posts...

Been playing Fallout 4 and it maintains a solid 60. The game set "godrays quality" to high vs ultra and I haven't tested to see what kind of a hit it takes, i'm guessing similar to foliage distance in Witcher 3.

I was playing last night, with GodRays on low and it was smooth on my 1440p 60hz monitor.

My CPU is an overclocked X5650 (hex core xeon) @ 4.5GHz.

No stuttering or immersion breaking for me... I do suspect once better drivers are out, along with updates to the game, the framerate will be much smoother for all of us with the AMD cards.

I play it with everything on ultra/max @ 1080p. The info about my rig is on my sig.

Pretty solid 60fps, with some strange dips to 40ish. Specially when outside and during sand storms.
