Your 970 won't come even close to my 390, not even close brah.

It will always be behind.

For me it seems to be every 5-6 years.

*That is also why those 8 Gigs are important.

yeah, my old HD4890 still could play new games at middle settings with good FPS, but that cuz it was seriously limited by the 1 GB Vram

I remember how at the time I read that the 1 GB ATI 5770 is somewhat not needed and I would be better of getting a 512mb model..
Thank God I did not listen. The 5770 is one hell of a soldier... still works just fine, I just use my R9 390 now smile.gif
That card got so much life due to the 1gb of VRAM at the time...

So I think I did good with getting an 8gb R9 390 smile.gif

Ok...do have some backup for that? lol Some monster benchmark where your 390 just smashes what the 970 I had could do? I mean, it's entirely possible, the 290X I have runs quite a bit faster than it does, but.....since you're so sure, show me. = )

Your Voodoo 2 will always behind my Voodoo 3 3000. biggrin.gif

BTW, regarding FS score, winning is winning, it doesn't matter whether it's gaming stable or not. Go to any competitive benching thread, no one is talking about gaming stable clocks.

I don't much see a difference graphically between SSAO and HBAO+. But that's just me. Yes lowering ambient occlusion setting will give a moderate FPS increase, maybe 3-5 if you're lucky.

On another note, my VRM1 temps are maxing at 105!!!!!! What the heck! GPU core and VRM2 never see 80 though...
