On another note, my VRM1 temps are maxing at 105!!!!!! What the heck! GPU core and VRM2 never see 80 though...

Yikes. Custom fan curve?

Yep, tops out 100% at 85. At load running about 80-85%. Im shocked that it peaks so high, and then under moderate use drops down to 70?? ***? Not sure if it's sensor issue or what....

Thank God I did not listen. The 5770 is one hell of a soldier... still works just fine, I just use my R9 390 now smile.gif
That card got so much life due to the 1gb of VRAM at the time...

So I think I did good with getting an 8gb R9 390 smile.gif

yeah, That's why I bought the 390, mainly cuz the Vram, and really mainly cuz it was a lot cheaper than the 970, not to mention the 980...

My HD4890's still kicking

If only 5fps increase then don't see how you can maintain 60fps min in witcher 3 at 1440p. It's not possible with a 390/x and I'm saying that as an owner of a 390x at 1170/1625 for my daily driver. You can look at benchmark vids online for witcher 3 @ 1440p. You need at least a 980ti to get a solid 60fps gameplay. Lowering shadows and lod will increase min fps from 35-45 at most

Aheem. Before you speak like this to someone, make sure you know where you are and where he is.

Go check the FireStrike thread and look up his name. biggrin.gif

You are talking BS to the 970 top dawg in there.

Besides, I am pretty sure your 390 has nothing against my 290. tongue.gif

Exactly. lachen.gif

BTW, some benches put my 780 crushing 970s too. But I don't wanna say it can crush everything. biggrin.gif

BTW, regarding FS score, winning is winning, it doesn't matter whether it's gaming stable or not. Go to any competitive benching thread, no one is talking about gaming stable clocks.

Nvidia cards are closer to being stable at their max clocks and best scores than AMD cards. I guess. Considering my mods to get me where the card is.

Having experienced both the 290X and the 970s, that's somewhat true. Kind of...there are some really stupid easy tricks you can do with the NVIDIA GPUs to help keep them more stable at top clocks. EVGA's Precision X has a handy little button called "KBoost", which locks in boost voltage and clocks. Helps to keep things stable when you're riding the edge.

lol, wish I could find something like that for this 290x. = P
