EVGA's Precision X has a handy little button called "KBoost", which locks in boost voltage and clocks. Helps to keep things stable when you're riding the edge.

lol, wish I could find something like that for this 290x. = P

One thing to note though, AMD cards can be pushed into their very limit in Benchmarks and give you a score in a more fathomable way. Artifacts, screen corruption, black screens and stuff whrn running on the rugged edge.

Nvidia cards, at least from the 600 to 900 series that I have had my hands on, wouldn't allow you to run them at their limits. It's either just run without glitches or simply not run at all. Black screens and restarts, Driver stopping and crashing, all that sort. And most of the time, it's the driver limitting what you can squeeze. Not the card. As the card runs fine but driver dictates it when to stop.

Unless you can trick the driver not to, like this run for example, where I have to adjust the limits of the card to trick the driver I am low enough on the limits by setting them at 250%. Yes, 250% and the card is riding at 180 - 198% of it's TDP and Power Limit.

Crazy run. But took home the 2nd spot on the bot for a single 780!

290 for comparison. Tess tweaks will be an annihilation going for the 290.

I haven't run SkyDiver with the new card yet. But.....that's pretty even. Good run, man.

I'd be hard pressed to believe that was your best SD run. biggrin.gif

I sometimes wonder if the 780 can be made stronger TBH.

BTW, run SD with Tess Off and you'll be amazed how good your card is.

I ran it once, just to put my name on the leaderboard, first run put me in the top 20..never ran it again.

Tess off just feels like cheating, though. lol

Tess off is allowed on the bot though.

Yeah. I signed up for that site, but, never did do anything there about posting scores or anything.

With tess tweaks, are you talking about in the driver settings? Setting it to off, or, AMD optimized....or setting it to a specific level?

PSU shut down again with stress on the overclocked CPU and GPU. I'm beginning to wonder if some of the voltage drop is due to the PSU starting to go bad.....

RMA requested. Waiting to hear back from EVGA.

Doesn't MSI have one option to make Voltage stay constant? Also I think one reason AMD is hard to get stable at their limit since HD 7970 is that if your temps are low enough the card will work even with artifacts. Even if you are getting no artifacts you can be stable 40C and then 50C your drivers will crash. Could be some part of the card is getting hotter which even Water Cooling does not cool when you are running +200 mV and up.
