[Official] AMD R9 390/390X Owners Club - Page 595

Finally received my replacement, the MSI R9 390, I'm comparing both the ASUS and MSI version, that will be a separate post but I'll have to say that Im sold on MSI card, ASUS card was just too hot, running avg of 85c in Firestrike, where the MSI measures out around low to mid 70s....again this will be a separate post

On to sharing some of my OC results with the MSI card and if im doing this right hopefully will land me on the owners list

MSI R9 390

Core: 1150mhz
Memory: 1700mhz
Core voltage: +50mV

Ran Firestrike and just RARELY scratches the 80c temps however fan would sit around 60-70% during benchmarking, doesnt really bother me as much, however I'll be doing more OCing in the future, for now i think im settled with this

I'll have to open the case and try this then sometime soon :-) i always go by the numbers trixx gives me back ^_^

can't say i've noticed any difference yet using 16.1.1 crimson yet, i have come across an interesting bug though in that my ff13-2 profile settings in crimson never stick over a restart, have to set them up again each time i want to play the game :< hmm.. (i know i know, crimson bug, not particular to 390x, just griping here haha)

also, ordering myself a new psu hopefully end of this week. amazon-uk is out of stock of the evga supernova 750w-g2, so hopefully that comes back into stock soon. that should allow me to oc my cpu again and should give me a more stable/overclockable experience with the 390x :3

Yeah, you will see the fans are not spinning. biggrin.gif

I have the 750w supernova g2. Great psu. If that doesn't come back into stocks you can get the 850 one.

16.1.1 boosted my Rise of the Tomb Raider performance noticeably by the way. Especially the min. fps. It's much more consistent now.

Hello! Can any of you please help me and comment on the thread I opened, about AMD cards - related to R9 390 as well - and drivers and their current state?
I have a thread here and I'm looking to centralize opinions, facts and tips about AMD from a stability perspective: http://www.overclock.net/t/1590013/what-is-the-current-state-of-amd-cards-and-drivers-from-a-stability-perspective

Is the Gigabyte G1 model, for both the 390 / 390X bad in terms of cooling?

Let me share my corsair hx platinum experiences. Its a piece of crap. Gives horrible whine w my pailit gtx 970. Th whine comes from the corsair like a freaking bomb or drill abt the explode n the palit gtx 970 was experiencing whine as well. I switched to a top rated cooler master v 1000 watt gold n the whine from the psu disappeared. So its corsair hx series screwing up. But the gtx 970 still whines. I finally shut the dam nvidia whine ul by getting a sapphire nitro r9 390. Currently the best of best for no whine, kool n ultra quiet amd card.

Newegg reviewss show pretty kool temps but fans might be louder. Sapphire currently has industry best triple fan cooling for r390/r390x. Dam quiet amd card. I owned one.

Is it weird that my mem clock is at max ALL the time?

Make my idle temps go up to 50-55C with clock at 1600.
