I have the chance to sell my 970 for the same ammount I could buy a R9390X-DC2-8GD5 from ASUS, would you say the swap is worth it ?
How are your 390x-s handling the new tomb raider, and can one expect around the same OC from the 390X as the 390?
That's a pretty bad cooler. I'd keep the 970. And the 390 and 390x use the same chip basically so they overclock within the same range. Its all silicon lotrery though. You can most likely get 1150 on the core. Which is a mere +50mhz from some of the custom 390xs

Do not get the dc2 cooler.

Ok thanks for the heads up on the cooler issue.
But what would be the best cooler to go for incase of 390?

Sapphire Radeon R9 390 Nitro Tri-X OC 8GB GDDR5
MSI R9 390 GAMING 8G 8GB GDDR5

Any of these any good rolleyes.gif

Cool thanks. And yeah the voltages are that high because it artifacts without it being that high. Not sure what that's about.

Thank you though. I'll try replacing the thermal paste

i'm trying to get a benchmark or two for the fanboy benchmark competition and man its frustrating to start a bench run and have the drivers crash without a reason. just doo do dooo running firestrike no artifacts and then BAM black screen. how can i boot up windows 10 with minimal background crap but with network and vga driver support? yes i know advanced startup but i'd like to know what you guys do to optimize your computers for high scores?

Sapphire has made the best coolers for Radeons for a long while now.

I have been having so much fun I forgot to post back. My Powercolor PCS+ is simply amazing. I don't have any of the temp issues you guys have. I set up a custom fan curve and I yet to see my card get hotter than 69C on the VRMs and 65 on the core with 58% fan speed. It's pretty quiet at 58%. I also keep my side panel off. If I put my panel on the GPU would be inaudible. I am comfortably running 1075/1550 @ +19mv. The card now gets maxed WAY before the CPU ever comes close.

I have disabled Vsync on all my games and set my frames to Unlimited. The card screams and is usually at 90%+ usage. With Vsync on both my CPU and GPU is around 65% usage. I have been getting 0 throttle on the Witcher 3 for the most part and I am getting well over 60fps at all times. After a while the screen tearing seems to go unnoticed. World of Warcraft gets absolutely dominated by the 390. I was getting some terrible stutter in WoW using Crossfire. Seems like all my games are more fluid. I will probably never go Crossfire again on that point, since I had the worst time ever with my 2x 4870's as well...

That looks like fun....is there a team leader that you need to sign up with, or? Just start posting your bench scores?

just start posting scores my dude. the rules are just tweak anything really, you can disable tess entirely!!!! once u get the score load up gpu-z and two instances of cpu-z (one with the main tab and one with the memory tab) and take a screenshot showing ur score (graphics score and main score and all that) and provide a link to ur result
