What kind of temps are any of you getting with a full cover block? Mine seem a bit high on VRM's. My core never goes over 44C but the VRM1 is hitting 70C at +100mv. This is after I reseated everthing. I only saw an improvement of 2C roughly.

Seems high doesn't it?

Please verify that VDDC Value you are getting at +100.

Fujipoly pads will be your refuge.

Yeah, you could just jump the green wire from your 24PIN connectors to each other, also include a ground.

Even 7w/Mk rated Phobya pads are way better than any stock pads, I saw a massive improvement of 7-8C on my card with those.

I'm already using the FujiPoly 17kh Extreme pads.

The voltage is .05mv higher than my 290x. Its a standard number as I recall, though I cannot remember what. I'll have to check that... Modified EK block that was meant for an XFX 290x. Remodeled to allow the taller caps.

Something's weird here for sure...

Okay, here's the screeny.

And here I bumped it up to 1250mhz just to see if it would hold. I have my doubts that it could make it through a bench run on this though. If I can get the temps down more though I would bet it could make it. But VRM1 is just getting too hot right now.

Edit:

This makes me wonder if there's a small difference in the RAM height from the older 290x on this block? Or something else that's keeping it from making good contact. I did notice the board seems to be warped ever so slightly. Which seems odd. Its the whole thing, back plate included. Hmmm...

Edit2: Well, this was an experiment I wanted to try... but I don't think its working out. I think I ruined the block. LOL biggrin.gif

Edit3: These 390X cards are beasts, but dang do they crank out the voltage. I think it was mentioned somewhere that they run higher volts to allow the base clock of 1500 on the RAM. I may be mistaken, but this really translates into some serious heat. Heat the 290 series was already known for, but the 390 series really takes this to a new level. Interestingly the core is easy enough to tame. My 390X is running identical to the 290X, so no difference there. The VRM's though are hotter, at least on my setup they are.

Has anyone else had an issue with their 390x showing up as a 390 in 3dmark and other software? I purchased a XFX 390x off of ebay and when it came it had the 390x box and a 390x warranty card. Also in GPU-Z it shows that is has 2816 shaders. Here the the GPU-z. Anyone have any idea whats going on? Could it actually be a 390? Should I try and send it back? Thanks guys.
