Stop believing people who post crap like that and you will be just fine.

There is no such thing as "One manufacturer OCs better than other", that is just a load of crap really. And ASIC doesn't mean anything either.

(lowest i could get it without artifacts) I think it's safe to say I got a horrible card lol.

Well my 390 scores about 300 more on Graphics Score than your 390X, just luck of the draw I guess.
And BIOS modding for more voltage.

Yeah, I can't quite break 16k graphics in firestrike. The FS graphics scores are quite a bit lower than 19k. = P

This is my best Firestrike run without tess tweaks.

And I wish I could overclock higher. 1140 for me though lol. Is that normal? Anyone?

Only time i hit 14K in FS was when i used Win 10 and my 290 was oc'ed like 1320 core or something. It was cold that night.

I ran into this problem recently and I found a forum explaining how to tell I can find the link but if you take your back plate off and post a picture I can tell you if it's possible or not there is a inductor on the end that was revised from the original reference PCB That was made slightly taller causing the Waterblock not to fit. On that inductor it should either have a "C" or a "Z" if it has the "C" then it will be compatible with the Waterblock if it has the "Z" then unfortunately it won't work unless you modify the block and thin it down to clear the inductor.

This is the WB I used http://www.frozencpu.com/products/24126/ex-blc-1714/EK_MSI_Gigabyte_Radeon_R9-290X_VGA_Liquid_Cooling_Block_Rev_20_-_Acetal_EK-FC_R9-290X_-_Acetal_Rev20.html

I didn't cause any issues I just had to remove the mid plate on the GPU and I replaced the thermal pads the WB came with fits good except for the end of the GPU I wasn't able to put a screw in because the hole was slightly off center but didn't hurt my performance and no I don't hit 60c even with a mild overclock.

Relax, your score is not out of the ordinary.

I recalled many people claimed bench score in Win 7 is a bit higher than Win 10. And no, SSD will not improve the score.

Hmm why do PowerColor R9 290s bench a bit lower than the rest tongue.gif ?
And even stock at that.

They won't, and they don't. It does not make any sense at all, they will/should all bench the same at same clocks regardless of manufacturer.

I don't know if you've got this working yet or not but just thought i'd mention some of the higher end psu's come with the wee adaptor for turning on a psu without a motherboard.. well, at least the evga g2 750w one does, so i assume most of the evga g/p ones do :O if that helps if you haven't ordered your psu yet :-(

The adaptor mentioned previously is for synching 2 PSUs to power up at the same time when you press the PC power button.

If just turning on the PSU is what you meant, it would be very simple to do.

No idea. In 290 case, Powecolor did released new BIOS that should fixed it but the bench score still a bit lower.
