post #9831 of 11905
Picked up a Sapphire R9 390 Nitro w/Backplate for cheap after trading my GTX 950 and was wondering what mods and tweaks I can do to it for better overclocks.

Also I still don't know what is the difference between 11244-01-20G and 11244-02-20G for Sapphire 390 Nitro. 11244-00-20G was version without backplate, 11244-01-20G is with backplate, and 11244-02-20G is hell knows what and it is more expensive (1440 vs 1569).

Have you checked GPU clock spec for each?

Nothing, the 480 is a heap of junk, my 390x runs circles around it IMHO. At the very least, it's not a huge step up TBH.

You might need to bump VDDC to help get to 1750 Memory.

Somehow, memory Voltage and OC scales with Core Voltage.

VDC not changeable on MSI Afterburner for me, I dont even see the option. Running at 1150/1650 in GTA V stable for some couple days now.

Core Voltage (mV) / +25
Power Limit (%) / +50
Core Clock (MHz) / 1150
Memory Clock (MHz) / 1650
Fan Speed (%) / Aggressive Custom Profile
Memory Voltage (mV) / Locked, not changeable in MSI Afterburner for Asus Strix 390x
Aux Voltage (mV) / +25

Not sure if SpeedFan's voltage sensors are accurate, but I've seen VDDC bouncing off 1.3, pretty high but it's stable wink.gif I keep an aggressive fan profile, fan % never goes above 65% and temps stay below 68ish.

VDDC = Core Voltage
VDDCI = Aux Voltage

Sorry for the confusion.

Probably not. There is not a huge difference in performance, but TDP and power draw grows significantly compared to 390 and 390X is really hot beast. Also $75 is quite a lot for such small upgrade, I would rather safe money for some more meaningful upgrade, or maybe FreeSync monitor if you don't have one yet, it would be much more of a upgrade than going from 390 to 390X.

But if you are in need of extra performance and you don't have better option then why not, this is not some horrible deal, but personally I wouldn't do it.

Me? I don't care. Waiting for 490x to see how she does.

480 seems a good card especially for the money. But the 480 isn't really for us. Its for the $200 card market. We are in a different class IMO... so we wait some more.

I'm in the same boat as you. waiting for the 490 as I have a freesync monitor. So im kinda stuck tongue.gif

Ty for quick reply. Not really in need of the extra performance actually I downgraded from 1600p panel died frown.gif to 1080p I have my signature rig and my new $400 CL build specs below. I asked someone what they'd want in cash with my card (PowerColor PCS+ 390) for his XFX 390x said $75 is why I ask.
