MSI 980 Ti Gaming 6G Card overclocks and pictures - Page 321

Has anyone been able to run this card at 1500mhz with stock voltage stable? It sounds strange to me but i have now tried Fallout 4 1440p /GTA V 4k/Heaven Benchmark 1440p/Metro Last light Redux 1440p and max Temp was 43c. Every game and benchmark was running 1 hour each and no crash and no artifacts that i could see.

Furmark just run the GPU at Stock clock for some reason and so does OCCT.

Any other game that is sensetive to OC? Havent tried witcher 3 yet

This card is HOT! My card reaches very high temps with a stable OC of 1470MHz/7400MHz @ 1.250V. I've seen it reach 87C in the most demanding games. I re-applied the thermal paste under the heatsink and it brought my max temps down a couple degrees Celsius. I have never had a graphics card that runs this hot. Without my OC the card still reaches the low 80's in the most demanding games. This is with max fan speed.

It's probably a thermal issue - My card would never go above 1492 in most games and in demanding ones it would cap out at 1477 regardless of what settings I used for fan, voltage, etc. Now that I've put it under water it has no problem breaking 1500+ even when running F@H on stock voltage.

G10 + AIO is the sweet spot, custom loop is preferred but pricey. I forsee lots of air cooled 980Ti failures in the future.

Not sure but yesterday ive reached it on my OC try:

This was also not the max I could go..just stopped there when I saw ive reached the 1500 mark...
Ive played with 4k settings on shadow of mordor plus had some raids and stable.

I can hit 1500mhz on stock voltage and stock bios. im satisfied by that, and i havent really tried going over 1500. so yeah..

im using a full custom loop though, seeing same temps as you, maybe 1-3c lower.

Okej i just ran 3d mark loop for 1 hour and then some Metro again and i have no issues so i guess its fine.

Very sensitive to OC is witcher 3 and metro last light bench.

So just was playing around with my 980 ti. bumped it up to +104/+45 and I guess the fan profile was one something odd as it jumped to 91C for a bit while trying it out in Battlefront rolleyes.gif

Is ek the only one currently with a block that fits this thing? I think ill feel better just putting it under water and calling it a day!

Yea, these suckers can get hot. With my current OC I'm hitting 82c in some games while playing at 4k. Still have a G10/H90 that I could toss back on it. Thing is the stock cooling looks much nicer, and is quieter then going the AIO rout. The temps just suck.

*Wow, 91c is pretty high. Read that as 81c at first. It should throttle before going past 84c. biggrin.gif

Don't adjust your temp limit with power limit. In other words, don't tie them together. Max power limit to 110%, and leave temp limit at 84c.

Try this for a quick and dirty OC.

Leave voltage alone for now.

Set power limit to max. Leave temp limit at 84c.

Set Core clock to +100

Set memory clock to +400

See how that goes. If it's stable and temps are ok then add +36MV to the voltage (adding the extra voltage should net higher boost results). If temps are an issue then play around with your fan speed.
