Looks like I won't be using them haha. Won't have anyway to actually use them.

I probably won't even need them. I have my trusty Crucial M4 512GB SSD that I've been using the 2012. I may just get a second if I ever need another.

No kidding on the slow. A couple of generation builds ago, I had a SATA equipped mobo that still had an IDE riser. Just hooking a floppy drive up to the thing bogged the crud out of it.

Get one of those USB HDD reader things and copy what's on those IDE drives to anything else - cuneiform tablets would be faster.

But your trying to compare apples & oranges..

The old IDE strips were for drives, not for the motherboard connector, which should be in the cable management part of the case...

No interference with airflow there, unlike the IDE connectors of the past... biggrin.gif

The only thing I'm comparing is the looks, not the performance or application. I'm just saying that I've paid extra money for round IDE cables instead of flat and now I've paid extra money for flat power cables instead of round.

It just amazes me to see how far computers have come. The first GPU I've ever owned was back in 2008 and it was an ATI 4640 or 4650 (long time ago). When I spent $500 on my 780 last year, I couldn't believe I spent that much, let along adding a second one hah. Now here I am with $2000 worth of GPU's hoping they will last me a good 5 or so years without the need of upgrading any time soon.

I may add a second hard drive, but my Crucial m4 gets the job done. First SSD and it's so much better than the 250 EVO I bought for my Alienware.

I kinda knew what you were talking about, and it is humorous ...

I remember my first build in 1999 when many guys were actually taking the IDE cables and slitting them with a razor blade along the length so they could bunch them up into a round cable...

Sometimes this wouldn't work so well as they would cut into the wires destroying the cable, luckily the cables were cheap...

Or you could go to the computer store and buy a box of used cables to split up ... biggrin.gif

The 1911 part is the gun thing. The Savage part is a fictional character that I'm a fan of. Savage makes guns of course but I don't know if they make a 1911.
