So yesterday I left a review on Performance PCs Facebook page. I got an email yesterday (I was asking them about fan controllers for the EK Vardars) and they said with my next order, they will include a free T-shirt. That's kind of cool if you ask me. Now if only they have me a free radiator or pump lol.

I want a free shirt!

That is pretty damn cool of them. I love supporting companies that actually give a damn about the community. Even if it's something like a t-shirt. It's worth throwing my money at them.

So I decided to make some changes regarding the fans. I currently have 11 Corsair SP120 QE's. I would need one more to pull off push pull for my RX480 and RX240. I'm using the SP120's for aesthetics.

However, for my bottom RX360 and 560GTS, I'm going to use EK vardar 120's and 140's (when released). I've just heard the Vardars are superior over the SP120's and perform outstanding.

Now because the Vardars are so good over the SP120's I'm deciding if I should add 4 more to my front RX240 (push pull) and sell the SP120's that I'm currently going to use for it. I would still use the SP120' in push pull for my RX480.

What do you guys suggest regarding the front RX240. So for a brief recap, this is how it'll be:

RX480- SP120 QE push pull (8 fans)
560GTS- EK Vardar 140 push (4 fans)
RX360- EK Vardar 120 push (3 fans)

Now for the RX240, either Vardar 120's push pull (4 fans) or use the SP120's push pull (4 fans)

My personal preference would be Vardars. You're going to be utilizing ~600mm (not taking thickness into consideration) more rad space than I am, so there might be a diminishing return somewhere in there that could turn this into a question of pure aesthetics (I have no math to support this though).

I went ahead and im going to go with all SP120's in the top compartment for my RX480 and RX240. I currently have the 11 SP120's, so ill buy one more for the 12 in push pull. I would rather use them on the RX240 because I only needed one more, plus if I sold 3 of them, I would be losing money. that's not including the extra 3 Vardar 120's.

For the bottom compartment and the RX360 and 560GTS, I will be using the EK Vardar 120's and 140's. Now here's an issue that I had, but it's now resolved. The problem was how I was going to control the vardars because they are PWM fans. I don't want to use my NZXT Sentry Mix 2 fan controller to control them because of the issues with humming and the fact that it can kill the PWM fans over time. I went ahead and ordered the Corsair Link Commander Mini kit, so that way I can control the 7 Vardar fans in the bottom compartment. Also, if it has enough wattage to power all 19 fans ill be using, then I may ditch the sentry mix and use voltage regulators and run the SP120's at 7v. But I doubt the Corsair link mini can control that many fans biggrin.gif

Good luck with the corsair link, i have read a lot if horror stories about it!.

Also if you want to run fans at 7v just hook them to the 12v and 5 volt wires on a molex and you have 7 volts

Well it's all the things bad I hear about PWM fans using voltage control. It was $70 after shopping for the link, so it better be worth it. If not, it's going right back. I won't be able to test it until my case comes though.

However, can you use molex for PWM fans too? How does the PWM work with 7v regulator.

My bad PMW will not work wirh 7v i thought you was talking about non PMW fans. Yes you can use molex connector to power any fan!

If that's the case, I will just use my SP120's with the sentry mix 2, and the Vardars with the Corisar link. The link should be here tomorrow, but I won't be able to test it out until I actually order the Vardars. I still need to wait for the 140s to come out.

But who knows. I may ditch the sentry mix and just run them via molex with the voltage regulators depending on how high I need the fans at. I'll probably run them at 900 rpm.

So I'm thinking about the color scheme for my build. It's be Black, Red, and White (also the gunmetal exterior of the SMA8). For my previous build in the 750D, which I am sad to be parting out because I love how I designed it, I used the black theme with the ASUS ROG red, as well as the red fittings and Ice White coolant. Here is a pic of my build that I want to use as the color scheme.

Now, I kind of want to do something regarding the radiators. Would it look good if I painted them white? Do you all think that would make the build stand out? Or should I just leave the radiators black/standard. This would just be the radiators in the top compartment: ie, RX480 and RX240
