Zotac 980 Ti AMP Extreme - Page 35

Downloaded the power limit removing BIOS on page 3 and was able to hit 1510 on the core at 1.23v

Before I was throttling down to 1480 when the power limit kicked in. Now I'm 1510, and I had max temp of 52c at 100% fan speed.

ASIC quality is 68%.

Set a fan curve that starts to kick in about 60-70 degrees
This will let you know if fans effects throttling in most cases it does
The coolers heat pipes can absorb/pull a lot of heat away before fans kick in
Cut back on volts that will cause GPU to heat up faster

No BIOS switch. I'm using the Stock.Model ROM from page 3 and it works brilliantly. Only bumps temp target and power cap which you need to get any real OC.

Watch out for these cards in SLI they are so big the bottom one will starve the top card.

Greetings fellow Zotac owners!

Im a new forummember from Norway. Ive had this card for some months, and i am very fond of the performance it brings. thumb.gif What i cant stand though, is the noise it makes mad.gif

So this got me thinking i could watercool it, but i am having some trouble finding a good alternative. Untill i found Corsairs HG10 N980 bracketcooler.

This supports the Corsair CPU-coolers H55, H60, up til H100 etc. I have a couple of these lying around from older builds so this seems to me the perfect fit for my build. But the Corsair HG10 N980 Compatibility list got me a bit worried confusedsmiley.png

I can see both Zotac 980ti and the AMP! edition, but no AMP! Extreme. So on to my question; Is the PCB of the AMP Extreme different to the normal AMP? And if so, is it THAT different in layout, that i would run into any problems if i buy one?

The AMP! Extreme's custom PCB is different in both size and layout to the AMP!, which uses the reference design, so I highly doubt the Corsair bracket will work. You can reference the below links for high res photos of both:

There a couple of modded bios's floating around

I am able to use the 1506.ROM I found on one of the pages within this thread and got pretty good performance out of it. I was able to get just a tick over 1600mhz stable in fire strike with a score of 18494. I posted a screen shot of my fire strike result below. I was able to clock it a bit higher and it was stable in the racing sims I use and also with other benchmarks titles.

I am wanting to move up to an SLI GTX 980 ti config and I know using two of the AMP Extreme models is a recipe for high temps on the top card. So I am looking to sell my Zotac GTX 980 ti AMP Extreme. But until sold, I plan to use it in SLI with possibly an EVGA GTX 980 ti classified. From what I have read this should work fine, just won't look pretty..... My question is, can the Same bios be used on the EVGA card? If not, I will just run both cards with stock bios until I sell the Zotac amp extreme card and them run modded bios on dual evga classified cards. If interested in buying my card shoot me a message. I have it for sale on boards I have been a member of for a while. I will list it here as well, if there is a for sale section.....,, the card was purchased new in late September 15 and has only been running an unlocked bios for a couple of weeks.

I got a 980 Ti Amp! Omega(68.5% ASIC) on Saturday and immediately flashed the most recent Extreme BIOS on the TPU gpu database. Boosts to 1404, and doesn't leave. Ten minutes of furmark stress fullscreen 1440p 8xAA. Doesn't leave 65°C @ 45% fan

Just found out that the NZXT Kraken G10 will fit the 980ti AMP Extreme just fine. The challange is finding the right coolers for VRM and ram. Anyone that can help me find the proper place to buy this and what to buy. The dude who used the Kraken G10 said he bought thermal pads and heat sinks on Ebay, but did not specify

The Ti Amp Extreme has a built in VRM/VRAM aluminium heat spreader the kraken g10 fan is enough to cool this area.
