Zotac 980 Ti AMP Extreme - Page 66

Does anyone run these in SLI with air cooling?

I just recently got myself the NZXT H630 case with 2x 220mm / 1x 120mm in take and the same out and the temperature on my GPU increased by 4c to 74c in heavy load (99% usage over 15 minutes) and I am worried that my investment into this "silent" case was a bad idea if I want to go on to 4k gaming.

I was wondering if anyone has been running SLI with this card with air cooling and what their temperatures are in load and in idle. Thanks.

I would go down the water cooling route for the first time, but those custom jobs makes me kinda afraid, especially with expensive hardware and water...

These 980ti's are not 4K ready even in SLI, check my posts , I had a bad add set up. These cards get hiot they are heavily OC so expect to see 83c on heavy load in SLI . If you have good distance between the two it is about 10 -15 degree difference between the cards

I run SLI supported content in 4k just fine, though I had to put G10 Krackens on both to keep temps in check

That's depressing, in the long run I was hoping to SLI my 980Ti AMP! Extreme. Would a 980Ti reference work better?

You can play 4K with them in SLI no doubt, but your not rocking 60 fps in games like tomb raider
And witcher 3. That's a fact

Heh I am well aware of the fact that I wont push 60fps with 2x of these bad boys. I was more worried about the temperatures when keeping their stock fans.

It would probably make more sense to get 2x1070s instead of water cooled 980Ti's because they are much more power efficient and deliver about the same speed. The cost will probably be also lower than getting additional water cooling gear.

Cooling 2 overclocked 980Tis on air is a real challenge. Running both cards @ 1500Mhz for a longer time on air is only really possible with very good cooling conditions and headphones smile.gif

This is my solution:
My motherboard has a 2 slots between GPUs. The Phantom 630 case houses a 200mm fan in the side panel which exhausts air (I just got a stronger Bitfenix 200mm fan for it lol). I added 3 additional 140mm fans inside the case to improve air flow and I put one of the 200mm fans on the bottom to suck air in. The CPU is cooled by an AIO which at least helps to dump some air outside the case directly.

Iam just received a gtx 980ti amp omega edition!
Which is the best bios to flash my card?
Is any reason to flash the card with the amp xtreme bios?

Hello, first you have to check that you r gpu works fine at stock frecuencies, then you have to verify that can work with the clock speed from the amp omega extreme and if it works fine you can flash it with that bios to get a bit more performance.

best regards
