For this "huge leap in technology" it doesn't seem to be "the great destroyer of walls and barriers" we hoped it would be. Or, that AMD led us to believe. Bandwidth doesn't seem to be that big of an issue for us currently as GDDR5 seems to be doing just fine being so ancient. Even Hawaii wasn't bandwidth starved with just 5 GHz memory. Maybe at 4k all of this helps, but such a small percentage of users even have a 4k monitors and as we know AMD dismissed 4k TV owners with no HDMI 2.0 (Five years developing something does that I guess..).
Maybe when you can finally overclock the card it can hopefully come close to an overclocked 980ti or even beat it considering it has 2 8 pins and a bios switch and hopefully adequate VRM cooling (Nothing the smexy EK block can't fix though
). So long as GCN still has improvements to be made. Might take AMD a long time but they most likely will improve on performance. It's not like they have a choice given the drastic times ahead and a two-front war with giants. I just wonder if David could of handled fighting two Goliath's at the same time back in the day.

They should run some f@h and let me know the numbers it produces. Running folding@home has been known to help cards with whine issues because of the stress it invokes.
Just sucks if you dumped $650 into a card to have to RMA it within 2 weeks. Maybe certain vendors will be awesome and provide free shipping but that's not always the case. Only sometimes did EVGA do that for me, but I'm glad they did offer free shipping after that terrible z87 Classy board I had to experience. AMD might have a low amount of engineers but at least they don't have EVGA's motherboard team.

At first it was "well not all of them have it and its mild", then its "it will be fixed for retail versions", now its "well coil whine isnt that bad and you'd shouldn't mind it", and now its "what about the 970?"
The goal posts always change on this forum. Luckily my Titan X doesn't whine at all even being on water. If it whined like my 690 did (only certain instances) it would of been RMA'd instantly.
That's why I had a laugh at a thread on reddit and lately haven't cared enough to log on here. "This isn't Overclock.net, no shills allowed". It's so true now it's painful, for both sides.
