Looks alright for what it is, and at that price. I think that might actually be an AHVA panel like some of their other offerings but I have no way to verify that. Hope you enjoy it

4K will have no native support for games for 9 more years.
XboxTWO -- PS5 time to make it mainstream.

Kind Regards,

I was thinking it might be, and would be slightly unfortunate if it is. That being said AHVA panels are still oretty decent; my current benQ gw2450 is an AHVA at 1080p. I probably would have bought it if it were described as an AHVA panel anwyays, but I hope that Acer wouldn't be so deceitful. In any case will let you guys know when it comes in

"Samsung has not, Acer has with the XB270HU, it is marketed as a "IPS technology" screen, the technique used however is AHVA by AU Optronic." -David van Dantzig at US.hardware.info

So I fiund this, and am realizing it's probably AHVA. I hope it isn't, but like I said i'm not too bothered with it either.

This is completely wrong. Just because consoles don't support 4k doesn't mean PC games "won't have native support". Otherwise games wouldn't allow you to currently render in 4K as it is now...That isn't just an upscale option you know.

SOMEONE WHO HAS THIS- what about pixel density? can you even see the mouse? haha it seems like it would be difficult to do anything with that many pixels crammed into 24"

Mine will be coming in on Friday, and will try to update everyone on my impressions. I read about people with other 24inch 4k monitors, and they said it very usable. In fact here's the thread. http://www.overclock.net/t/1503874/addressing-scaling-on-windows-8-1-with-4k-displays

So, how do you like it so far?

Ok everyone, so I just got the monitor, and spent a couple of days with it. So let me start by saying I love the monitor, and am quite impressed. The monitor doesn't come with any extra features, like usb 3.0, or a fancy stand, but the panel is has really impressed me. This is my first 4k monitor that i've had the pleasure of using, and i'm coming off of a benq 1080p AHVA monitor. That being said gaming has been impressive, but I have only been able to play a few games since I don't have my second 290x atm. I played a bit of fifa, and call of duty black ops and both games looked great, considering Call of Duty isn't really played for it's graphics. I watched some Arrow on the monitor, and the difference in colors were quite impressive. Unfortunately it has a glossy bezel which isn't that big of a deal for me, but not a fan either. Also the stand is very basic and just tilts up and down. I haven't had as much free time as I would like, so I haven't found out how to adjust windows to scale with dual monitors of 4k and 1080p properly. Most applications, and even windows explorer menus scaled properly, but for example opening task manager, and when I right click on the desktop it comes up huge. Again haven't had time to mess with it, so I don't know if it's just a setting, or if it can't be fixed. That being said it's not a big deal, and overall I am very happy with the monitor.

Also I watched some LG 4k demos I found online, and wow. I must say they looked absolutely brilliant on this monitor. I compared it on my old monitor, which I always thought the colors were pretty good, but not great, and the difference is HUGE. Obviously different resolutions, but still. All in all, if you're looking for a 4k monitor on a budget, you won't be disappointed. This is not a TN panel, and like I mentioned the colors are great 4ms response, and 60hz is good enough for me. Glad I went ahead and bought it.

Thank you so much!

Been looking at 4k @ 24 to match my 144hz monitor, and was hoping to get some useful info on usage.
Most people just say how the scaling is bad/its too small for 4k, so thank you for your input!

No problem. Scaling is not bad at all, it's just the issue I mentioned when pairing it with 1080p. I should also mention some applications aren't 4k ready, so might scale really poorly. For me so far the only application I noticed was origin, which was really tiny, but honestly isn't that bad since I just use it to launch games. Steam is fine, a little fuzzy, but definitely readable, but the steam overlay is tiny which is kind of a nuisance. Not sure if there is a way to fix it though; maybe when I free up I'll look into it more.

I just wanted to add, today I was messing with scaling, and found that using Virtual Super resolution helps with scaling a lot, and makes using dual monitors with a 4k and 1080p display much more bearable. Nvidia has a similar feature as I understand it, but with the r9 290x I was able to set my 1080p monitor to 3200x1800 which makes the scaling, and size of things acceptable. Things like task manager are now a usable size, instead of being way over sized to be used on the 1080p monitor, also right clicking on the desktop, and things like that. Unfortunately you can't upscale all the way to 3840x2160 atm, but it may happen in the future.
