Can't wait for this game.

I'm really excited for this game but there is a nagging voice in the back of my head quietly screaming "peter molyneux" over and over again.

edit: not to mention it looks like we have ever present auto find you ai. Thats a red flag to me. Guess I'll finish the vid now and see if it's explained, but somehow on these unexplored planets there is already AI that can just auto populate right on me if I'm "naughty"

I love this bit:
There's definitely alot of potential. Has a real shot of creating an mmo kind of universe in and of itself. But I'm so cautious on my hype right now.

edit: hahahahahahahahaha they even mentioned peter. See now I'm extra worried. I've seen this type of promise before.

Been keeping a eye on this since I first saw the first trailer. So far it looks to be coming along nicely. Definitely going to be a blast exploring if they can keep that huge size and hopefully have enough different content to keep finding new stuff to see or do.

Why am I the only one that looks at this game and sees a glorified walking simulator with no real content?

It's quotes like this from them that are going to make or break them.
Quote:
Murray says that if you explored a planet every second of the day, you might see repetition after between 4,000 and 5,000 years
Quote:
Just in case No Man's Sky became a wild success, Hello Games took the seed number up to a 64-bit number. That's 10 to the power of 19 -- a huge number. Now, with this, Murray says that if you explore a planet every second, it would take you 4 or 5 billion years to see repetition in the universe
What constitutes repetition to them because I'm sure it's going to differ from what it means to the average gamer. I really hope they pull it off. I would love nothing more than to have an expansive universe sim but everytime they speak about their game it starts to raise little alarms for me. Especially that second quote.

You're probably not. I'm hoping the chance for human interaction is great. Grab some buds and start a little explorer's league or pirate gang, but so far yeah, it's been 1 dude walking around on misc planet 5

Friends only marginally helps Elite: Dangerous. The game is so huge with so many different things to do you have to FIND your friends first, and then you have to find something to do with them which is it's own game of Where's Waldo.

Gotta have more than that. You've got to have focal points of long hours of activity that can keep people together and focused. Elite: Dangerous is just starting to get over this problem and it still won't be fixed until after the first expansion? Nah, probably the second.

While I don't play that particular game, I agree with what you're saying.I really hope there is things to do in a group as I'd love to go planet hopping with some buds just to kick up trouble for little goats(in the vid)

I'm wondering if the devs of the game expect organic interaction to form and people to congregate and stay close building little communities of adventurers or if they have things planned to promote that. It's just one of a few things that worries/excites me about this title. Is it going to be a sim? Or is it more "gamey" than they are letting on about?

That A.I. for sure got there fast and infinite which makes me think it's not as "open" as the words that are being used to describe make it sound.

Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

You're not the only one mate.

It's somewhat between Elite and Star Citizen for me.

Elite offers nothing when it comes to planet exploring. (Powerplay adds new things but stil..)
Star offers too many things that i'm not sure whether it will become jack of all trades BUT master of none.

NMS stays between both, offers not many things and there are not many things you can do, with arcadish base it was found upon.

No joke, that's the second time they've been running around on a planet, shot something and then random sentinel bots show up and start attacking you on a completely uninhabited planet. What's up with that? Why do you put billions of low tech planets in the galaxy and then lolcake some GTA police-bots and heat mechanics in from left field to make players behave? Is it so important that they not be allowed to blow things up for 5 minutes or so until they get bored and find something constructive to do that you've got to lock it down like a concentration camp, without the camp?

"Play the game our way or don't play." is what that screams to me. I'll stick with ED and Star Citizen, however unfinished they may be, at least they didn't set the bar so low they tripped over it.

Not like they're going to run out of Digital Copies either lol. Has no one learned from Arkham Knight?

I'll only ever pre-order a game when they give me a dang demo to try a game out.

You're not the only one, frankly seems like a pretty dumb game to me. I don't want to explore 589439810912098091289012 planets that have been procedural generated. It's not like you'll ever even seen 1/100000000th of them anyway.

Plus the goal of "get to the center of the galaxy" and "explore" is about as uninteresting as you could possibly get.

How about a nice story driven game, ya know, with actual content?

Guys did you really think that I wait for games to come on Pre-Order so I can buy it at full price? I just look to see when games come on pre-order because sites like GMG and G2A often do 23% or 20% off Pre-Order titles. I'm all about the deals.

Getting to the center of the galaxy happened in ED within a week of us being let out of the pill in Beta. From what I've seen their galaxy is probably smaller. It's not even worth considering as a goal. It'll just be a tourist stop like Saggitarius A is right now in ED.

Random battles. Ships show up, they shoot each other, they leave. No backstory, no politics, no strategy, no missions involving them.

I'm going to watch a YT video of the credit roll for Peter Molyneux's name when it comes out.

The game looks gorgeous that's for sure. Is there a point, though, where this game could potentially be too big? I get that "everyone is trying to get to the center of the galaxy", but what if people get too spaced out? Human interactions could become sparse.

I would love to play this game but it seems like you need to sink a ton of time into it.

If the engine can generate near infinite amounts of different species of animals, plants, and terrain then this game will be mind-blowing. I havent seen evidence of that yet. I also didnt like when the creator kept on mentioning how the 'average' experience will be like when playing the game. If this games premise is indeed true, then every game experience should be entirely unique. Not average. So far, it looks good and ill agree with Ganf, it is a walking/sight seeing simulator. Not necessarily a bad thing.

I knew it.
