I have been slowly upgrading my PC and I have hit a wall. I just updated from a GTX 660TI to a GTX 970 and I'm not sure what to do next.
I have thought about doing some water cooling but i don't know if that's justified seeing how I only use the PC for casual gaming.
I have a Intel I-5
GTX 970
Asus Motherboard
8 Gigs of Ram
2 HHD
1 SSD
I have 2 27' monitors, a Black Widow Croma, and a Naga Molten Mouse.
The only issue with those is that the Naga has started double clicking.
I haven't really thought about upgrading my sound quality.
You all are getting just a LITTLE too anal about PSUs, even for me. The CX500 is just fine for this rig. He already owns it, he won't be overclocking very far with that motherboard (if he even decides to overclock at all), so there's no need to worry. Period.
Also, as he said, HE ONLY USES THIS RIG FOR CASUAL GAMING. So, let's relax a little bit.

an HSF then OC to 4.0Ghz shouldn't need a PSU replacement as you've said.
additional ram should also be an option, not that it has much merit to it with that workload.
more fans, or at least replace some with better/quieter ones? might want to look into that.
i still see some unused SATA ports so you can add 1 more large SSD and a few more HDDs.

Guys, I'm off to bed. Please don't get carried away while I'm gone. Remember: aways review each and every single post that the Thread Starter makes in a thread before making your recommendation. You can read ALL the posts that EVERYONE has made, but the Thread Starter's are always the most important. Sometimes, you find very very very useful information in later posts made by the Thread Starter and then you can greatly improve your quality of service to them.

i've got that issue on a different mouse, if you know how to tinker a bit with a solder you could swap the left and right click buttons.
otherwise, while its a pain and a waste, it's time to retire the old mouse and get either the same or a better mouse.
you should upgrade your sound to a certain extent, theres plenty of cheap sound cards out there to try out, or a USB type so its easily managed.
Asus DG is cheap and good for a PCI type, while a Asus Xonar U5 is a bit expensive but good for a USB type.
what speakers do you have by the way? interested in headphones or earphones?
Fill out the rig builder so we can see any bottlenecks you have. That will help alot with figuring out exactly what you do have and what can be improved for the performance/cost ratio.
It's possible to get better gaming performance from it. Depending on how else you use your computer, it's possible to speed up other things a little bit too. Plus, it's fun.

You could click "Rigbuilder" on the far right part of the black bar on the top of every page, but I find that the page takes too long to load and it's much faster to do it the way that I just recommended - at least for me. So, I tend to avoid recommending taking that route.
Anyway, when you're all done filling out your system's specifications, you need to add it to your signature. To do that, just go to where you edit your signature and then select your 'rig' from one of those 3 drop-down menus.

Meh. My mind is simply free due to not having anything going on in my life. lol If I had a busy life, then I wouldn't be able to do that at all. I'd probably be pretty useless in general on OCN because I tend to get overwhelmed easier than most when I have stuff going on.
Since that motherboard supports dual channel RAM, I would get another stick of ram of what you have, or go to a higher clockspeed. The max speed is 2400, so you could get 2x 4gb sticks or 2x 8gb sticks of DDR3 2400. What kind of HDD and SSD do you have? You only have 2 x SATA 6Gb/s ports on that board, so I would suggest moving to an intel i7 and get a new board one with more of the SATA 6GB/s ports. If you dont want to do that, you can do the following.
CPU Cooler
RAM
PSU
A second GTX 970
