Cheapest/Best bang for buck 21:9 monitor

Hey guys,

I'm looking to purchase a new monitor, for gaming, programming, and multitasking. I'm a college student so those extreme $600+ widescreen monitors are well out of my budget (for now

).

I'm looking for a decently sized widescreen/ultrawide screen monitor that's less than $400. Do those exist? I don't mind compromising other aspects of the monitor for the ultrawide feature.

So far, the only one I've found that really matches my criteria and seems like a good deal is this LG monitor: http://www.amazon.com/LG-Electronics-25UM57-25-Inch-LED-lit/dp/B00V8FAWC2/ref=sr_1_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1436466654&sr=1-3&keywords=widescreen&refinements=p_n_size_browse-bin%3A3547807011%7C3547806011

Any other suggestions?

Oh and, I have amazon prime, and amazon is having a big sale, so it'd be a double win if the monitor was available on amazon, but that absolutely doesn't matter. Newegg is fine as well.

Thanks, as always!

Edit: I also have a single Gtx 970 for now, but will be upgrading to a 980Ti when I finish my internship.

AOC Q2963PM if you can live with the not so adjustable stand otherwise you can VESA wall mount it. Of course there will be people telling you OMG get 2560x1440 monitors instead because you get more space %. I got a 21:9 monitor and have no regrets of the slightly missing vertical space as I wanted more horizontal space. It's kind of a weird jump right now on monitors because 4K monitors are out and they have 21:9 ultrawide monitors that some people hate on and then there's the safe bet of 2560 x 1440 monitors that people get because they're too scared to get TN 4K monitors and then there's GSYNC and FreeSync monitors and then there's 144Hz IPS monitors. AOC is the cheapest if you're concerned about money.

If your budget is limited, ultrawide doesn't make any sense. It has less area, significantly less pixels, costs more, and there is only handful of offerings.

P.S. If your budget is less limited, ultrawide still doesn't make any sense, because there is much more competition with 16:9 offerings in every price range. Why people still buy this crap is beyond my comprehension.

Why you keep bashing 21:9 is beyond my comprehension. Give it a rest, people like choices. If area per a dollar ratio made so much sense then TN panels would win all the time.

with a budget of 400$, why not two screens?

Don't bother with 25" 21.9, vertical height is too small. Get a 29" 2560x1080 instead, as suggested AOC or one of LG's i.e. 29ub65, 29um65 or preferably 29um67

EDIT:

if you are getting a 980ti, then I would try to save up for a 34" 3440x1440, as posted, there can be some good deals every now and then, again, I would look at the AOC or LG 34"

Why you keep posting this utter rubbish is beyond my comprehension.

Thanks for the suggestions so far, guys. Yeah, I looked at some video reviews, and looked at a few in person and found that the 25" is far too small. I currently have 2 x24" monitor setup, but I'm thinking I could sell both of those and maybe increase my budget by ~$100. I'm leaning towards a 29" 21:9 monitor, and I'll take a look at the ones you guys suggested.

I mostly don't like the dual monitor setup because of the panels in between, and I'd prefer a much more fluid transition. Also, these are older 24" monitors so it's always nice to upgrade to something new

The shell shocker anoob posted looks flipping fantastic. I can't believe I missed that. That would've been my perfect deal, budget, size, and quality. T_______T so sad.

Let me know if there are any others you recommend.
