Yes they are slightly lower timings and slightly less bandwidth than my 16GB kit, but, I'm happy to trade 48GB capacity for about a 1% reduction in throughput at similar latencies.

I've been running 64GB of Dominator Platinums for a long time in my RIVE...never an issue....wink.gif

Thats the reason cpu-z always says E5-2690 v2 at the top?
Yeah, CPU-Z is missing the data entry to distinguish the 2690 from the 1680 so it says 2690 in the portion that uses the CPU-Z database, and 1680 where it pulls from the OS report.

This CPU looks interesting but I can only find it from eBay for a 'reasonable' price and only from the US. Importing one here would end up costing few hundred euros more than i7-5960X. Too bad. redface.gif
post #105 of 204
Still just a tad too much for "old tech" (ivy bridge). Though I don't care for the latest generations much because they have brought very little. I'll give it a year and get one for $85 on ebay.wink.gif

Old thread I know, but if anyone of you 1680V2 owners are looking to sell your chip down the line, I may be highly interested.

I can't justify the price of current ebay offers currently, but let me know if you're up to haggle when/if the time comes.

My 3930K at 4.6Ghz has been an amazing chip for sure, but a 8 core in the old X79 would be a beast and keep me going until the replacement for X99 arrives.

Would It be worth buying an 8-Core Mac Pro, drop a current e5 1650 in it and sell it off?
i too would like an answer from anyone that has a 1680v2 capable of going over 4.6-5ghz at a decent voltage say under 1.3v to 1.35v.

if its lower end frequency would prefer under 1.3v if possible. would not mind paying 1.5k for it..

you can get a used 5960x for half that.
yea butt 5960x cant really oc well can it? nor can broadwell-E. reviews for OC really bad. 4.6ghz or 4.7ghz at 1.35v sounds great but im looking for better ones, more like 1.25v for 4.6ghz or preferably higher clocked ones with low voltage..
