Best Fingertip-grip mouse 2015 - Page 8

There were at least two Microsoft optical image correlation sensor mice before they started using the MLT04. The Intellimouse Explorer 1.0 used the Agilent HDNS-2000 which had a very low malfunction speed, and scared me away from optical sensors for a few years.
I'm interested in seeing how the sensor reads out very slightly different locations, yes. I want to see what happens to the blooming around the white points.

Doesn't seem like they're doing interpolation directly on the sensor image. Interpolation only comes into play after they've already turned a pair of images into a 3x3 grid of similarity values (the "hard" part of standard DIC)

a) lighting the surface
b-c) storing one image of the surface
d) storing a second image of the surface at a different time
e) comparing eight integer shifted versions (one in each compass direction) and one unshifted version of one image to an unshifted version of the other image
f) storing the overall differences of each of the above comparisons in separate variables that make up a 3x3 grid corresponding to the direction

For anyone that's going crazy at the fact that they do diagonal shifts: they're doing it at single pixel translations, which means that frequency boundary problems don't matter. Maybe mlt04 takes advantage of doing eight directions of shift to give native diagonal axis movements, like the images in the other thread smile.gif Keeping track of sub-granular drift would be more complicated then though.

EDIT: Interpolating the correlation array is equivalent to doing subpixel shift comparisons, but, it works properly with image data that wouldn't be friendly to DIC after being interpolated directly (unfriendly for whatever reason, possibly: bit depth restrictions, clipping, ringing, phase shift, etc). Interpolating the entire image array is also more computationally expensive and would burn up power. It's also theoretically possible to track error/drift/walk from interpolating the correlation array in the way that they're doing it, but I don't know whether they do.

From wrist to end of middle finger is 19cm.

I rest my hand on the mouse pad and move the mouse using my wrist - my hand usually stays somewhat stationary throughout with only my wrist making movements.

I use my mouse the same way and if I measure my hand with it's natural curve the distance is 19cm.. if I flatten it out it's 20.5cm though.

I currently have a Zowie FK1 and I love it, the mouse clicks are a bit of a sticking point for some.. I love them, my 3 month old G500s felt like it was worn out or broken in comparison after using the zowie and I ended up giving that to a mate instead. To me it's like going from a normal logitech keyboard to a mechanical, it's the difference in feel that did it for me. It's also a hell of a lot lighter than the G500s was and noticably smaller.

If you don’t mind modding, you may make a nice fingertip mouse of Rat TE.

I won't touch another Mad Catz mouse ever again after my Rat 9's optical problem. The tracking on Mad Catz mice is atrocious and cannot be used for competitive gaming.

FK - Good buttons are more important for fingertip grips since you'll be putting pressure on them without meaning to click them.
DA - I still really hate the DA's shape for fingertipping.
G303 - Looks good, but I haven't used it. It might give me cramps since it's convex instead of concave.

The FM has downright the best shape I have ever used in a mouse for my fingertip grip. The KPM is a second but might be annoying to people with differently-long fingers than me, since I barely avoid a problem with the right side of the mouse.

What is FM mouse you are talking about? I can't find it, it's not a Roccat nor Zowie... My g9xs are like 6 years old, I'm in search for a great fingertip mouse. I fingertip g9x with wide grip and no weights. Bought g303, but it looks like it's not working out for me - no place to rest my ring and pinky fingers. Hand is 19cm.

finalmouse 2015

It doesn't have a resting place for the fingers, it has sort of the opposite. A groove above where I put my ring finger. I also would not recommend that mouse for other reasons.

If you want a resting place check the coolermaster xornets and spawns

It's not much of a resting place as a width of a mouse itself. This is the grip I got used to in 7 years (g9 before g9x also).

I'm considering Corsair M65, what do you think?

You have attractive manly hands.

But yeah I'd stray from the M65, it's quite heavy and the sniper button is in an annoying position imo. If you just want to try the shape the M45 sports a better sensor + no sniper button.

I have 21.5 cm hands and the FM Tournament Pro is one of the few mice that realistically works in all 3 grips for me, albeit slightly heavier than ideal. One mouse that I have to recommend for pure fingertip though is the Zealot Jr. It's 10 bucks on Amazon now (steal), and don't let the price fool you it's a solid little mouse. LOD is high (3090 sensor) but can be remedied w/ tape trick.
