What is the Alphacool GPX?

The GPX is Alphacools revolutionary new GPU water block. The key to the GPX water block is compatibility and future-proofing as the water block itself uses exchangeable plates that lets you change GPU's without having to drain your loop.

How does the GPX work?

The GPX uses a core block that is mounted to a plate specific to your GPU. The Core block cools the GPU's cores directly while also being mounted to and cooling the aluminium plate, as shown in this video:

What cards are compatible with the GPX?

There are now well over 200 cards compatible with the GPX from Nvidia and ATI including reference and non-reference cards. Want to see if you card is compatible use the links below:

Nvidia Compatibility

ATI Compatibility

But what if my card isn't listed?

Because Alphacool is dedicated to making the GPX the most compatible water block in the market if they do not already have a solution they will make you a water block for your card free of charge! all you have to do is send it in to Alphacool's state of the art R&D facility for scanning.

More information on how Alphacool makes their blocks can be seen here

What are the advantages of using the GPX over traditional GPU blocks?

  • Cost - The GPX is cheaper then most other GPU waterblocks on the market
  • Backplate is included! - Everything you need in one box at one price.
  • Upgradeable - If you change your GPU you can buy a new plate and back plate for half the cost of a new GPU block and you don't have to drain your loop!

Please feel free to ask questions / post pictures of your GPX set-ups in this thread smile.gif

Here's mine!

Not sure why this thread is so quiet - got to say I love the GPX block and have found it's performance great. Importantly it gave me the option of watercooling a relatively low end gpu with a waterblock that could be upgraded down the line. Also got to say have been impressed with the input you guys have been giving on the site recently.

That said;
a) Which models are available / planned to be available as upgrade kits? Currently the upgrade list on aquatuning.co.uk seems quite a bit smaller than the list of complete blocks - though i haven't compared in detail. I would get it if the lower end cards like my 270x didn't have an upgrade kit but do all higher end cards?

b) Is there a plan to release blocks / upgrade kits for the r9 390 series? Or is this where the custom service would come in and you release them as and when you get a request?

Cheers

Hi Bicheal,

All models are available with the upgrade kits but they are listed on request smile.gif At the moment Alphacool are working on making sure they have every GPU block covered and then inbetween the upgrade kits will be listed

Awesome, thanks for the reply.

Time to start saving (or rather justifying to myself that it's time for an upgrade!)

Hello, i wanted to ask a question.
Quote:
Upgradeable - If you change your GPU you can buy a new plate and back plate for half the cost of a new GPU block and you don't have to drain your loop!
So how does it exactly work? Let's say i have the GPX, R9 290 one. On later date i change graphics card and i want to use the waterblock. How do buy the new plate "for half the cost"? Do i just send an e-mail with my previous plate receipt or something?

Hey! You are the guy who did literally the only review of this Magicool pump/reservoir. I absolutely don't understand even a little bit of german so could you tell me how was it? I think you checked in the video the flow rate but it showed you something like ~60 l/h. The pump was supposed to be 450 l/h so i was a little bit curious since it's really cheap. Do you think it's worth?

Also what temps did you have with the GPX Alphacool block? I'm thinking of buying one later but i'm afraid it will have trouble with cooling the damned, hot as hell VRM1 on my R9 290(that vrm is really hot but really small, really hard to cool when overclocking).
GPU temp of my titan waterblock was around 45° C

I can answer the other questions via pn, because this is an alphacool thread smile.gif
