For the same price I got my G3258 I could build an AMD octo core system that rivals intel overclocked Hex cores in programs not using intel compiler.

Have you ever heard of something called the ICC Patch? It repairs those intel compilers and does make a difference even on new apps. I use it and have seen improvements in old stuff like Half Life 2 and new stuff like Final Fantasy IV. It helps to level the playing field.

I notice a good overall performance increase disabling Core Park in Windows 7 x64 and C1E/CoolQuiet in BIOS.

My CPU sits at 4.77Ghz at all time.

I will test this Patch Intel-Compiler

What exacly he does? Only ID my CPU as Genuine Intel?

Also, i downloaded the Patch and GMAIL believe that´s a virus any idea ?

See ya !

No what it does is tweak your already compiled executable files (such as games) and remove an intel-centric feature, namely CPU Dispatching which detects your CPU features at runtime and chooses from Intel optimized library sets depending on which Intel CPU you have (obviously, this feature does not play well with a non Intel CPU)

edit: I believe G-mail flips its lid every time you download a file containing an executable, even if it's a compressed archive. I would just run it through your local virus scanner and see what happens, I've tried this myself.

Yes, it repairs the either/or call in the app and where I see the difference is in increased CPU loads. Without it the CPU is not allowed to do as much work and performance suffers.

I have been running this for some time with different anti virus and OS with no virus detection issues. I did not DL from this site but they are pretty big and have been around a while.

Me and my son built BMO (Adventure Time anybody?) out of spare parts, and since we actually see a fair amount of use out of the little guy (NES emulator and Netflix box) we figured we would upgrade him to something a little beefier than the 6400k that is in there now, so he can play minecraft and lego lord of the rings. The case we built doesnt really have room/support for a dedicated GPU, so an APU is a no brainer for it. I was actually just passing through the AMD section to try and get a feel for which one may work best for us...I was thinking along the lines of a 7870k? Really only have room for a MATX at most (what is in there now) but would like to get into a decent MITX.

Best Price performance APU is 7650K or his his successor 7670K, 7850k and 7870K will be marginal faster ~ 10% , main reason for this is slow rams DDR3 are not enough even when using DDR3 2400Mhz CL10 they are to slow to keep with iGPU inside 7850K smile.gif
And when you OC iGPU inside 7650K you will get similar or even better FPS in games compared to stock 7850k smile.gif

You can do even better if you just buy an 860K and a discrete R7 260, though, and the combination will cost about the same once you factor in not needing the fast DDR3 to feed the APU.

The G3258 was hailed as the miraculous budget CPU, because of its overclockability and excellent results with "current" games that can't even use 4 cores at 100%, but it's not tomorrow's budget CPU, as the first games that refuse to run on it without 3rd party hack show. And personally, i would never buy a dual core in 2015. I don't care how good it is, i just wouldn't, it screams "no tomorrow". I 'd rather have a CPU that can play all games worse, like the 8320E, than a CPU that for each new game i must worry to see if it runs natively or if i have to wait for a hack (not to mention that you don't get official support). The G3258 performs so well in games, because games can take advantage of 100% of its resources. When new games come out and are heavier CPU-wise, the G3258 won't have anything left to give. Two cores that run 100% today, won't go 200% tomorrow. An FX8320 that runs at 50% today, can go to 100% tomorrow.

They would at least have to enable hyper threading on it to get my interest for a small HTPC build.. Two factors here

one which goes often unmentioned, you can get core 2 duos for $10 on ebay, quads for $20 maybe less. I would personally just go with an LGA775 machine for literal peanuts (unless power is a concern, I'm here to overclock things to hell, no interest in low power really).

The other, You can get the FX 4350 for the exact same price ($69.99) right now.

Now that I noticed how cheap 775 parts are on ebay now.. heheh.. time for more explosions.
