full speed 43.0 C with 5930k on corsair h80i gt - idle temp too high?

full speed fans with corsair link is now at 36.3C. i thought idle would be 25.0, i did not use my artiic thermal compund but tthe corsair stock one.

should i use corsiar themal link or stuick with asus fan tuning?

either fan controllers should be very similar and will both be able to run fan at max %, which from what i think i'm reading is getting you 43C at idle. i'm sure you did but it doesn't hurt to double check in task manager that you are in fact at very low cpu usage.

h80i is a pretty small cooler for that 6 core x99 chip. are you overclocking it? if so by how much and what voltage?

thermal paste at most will make a 2-3C difference, if that. However this is overclock.net so its not exactly out the norm where people want the best of the best, where CLU pretty much dominates. However it is more expensive and a pain to clean. AS5 is my daily driver goto TIM but there are several other good ones, but i don't see that bringing you down into the 30's.

best bet is to get a bigger cooler. should have done a bit more research and found that the h80i isn't really quite enough for that x99 chip, and i'm assuming it has been overclocked as well.

you might also want to check a few benchmarks, such at the intel XTU as it is a more simple benchmark that has a lesser chance of skyrocketing cpu temps vs prime95 and intel burn test.

TLDR, swap the h80i with something with more cooling power, not enough for that x99 chip, especially if overclocking.

Do you have all power saving features enabled? You can't really get to something like 25 °C without the CPU reducing speeds and voltage at idle on the desktop. Something above 30 °C is normal if you disable power saving stuff and run at a fixed speed, and then adding overclocking and increased voltage gets you to 40 °C at idle.

What's the room temperature? You need to take this into account when comparing with other people.
table to translate between F and C (Click to show)
18°C = 64°F
19°C = 66°F
20°C = 68°F
21°C = 69°F
22°C = 71°F
23°C = 73°F
24°C = 75°F
25°C = 77°F
26°C = 78°F
27°C = 80°F
28°C = 82°F
29°C = 84°F
30°C = 86°F

If things still look bad after you take this into account, you should check how you installed the cooler, take it off and look at the thermal paste application.

occed to 4400 MHz.

room is about 75 celsius. have not disabled anyhthing on cpu

mutliper 35x
bus speed 125 mhz
core voltage 1.274v

whjat should i swap it for h80i? i just got in mail today... frown.gif

in asus fan program - if i run full speed, it's super loud. but i get 35-40 degree C.

Idle temps aren't that big of a concern, load temps are. Since you have the h110i then no worries but my stock cooler temps on idle were lower than my h105, strange yes but at load is where you saw the difference.

Hello
I have a 5820k with asrock extreme 4 I am also concerned about the high temps idle is 45c-50c load with fire strike hits 70. My CPU is at stock speeds. If you want some more specific values and tests let me know. I'm starting to thing this cooler is not enough
