Overclock BCLK

Thread Starter
Hello, I need to raise the BCLK to increase the FSB, which gives advantages on my game. I know that raising BCLK isn't safe, but please, don't answer by telling me to use the multiplier, because it's not what I need.
So, I'm wondering if :
1) the BCLK can be raised to a maximum limit, so that from any starting point (96mhz or 99mhz by example), you can reach one maximum point (106mhz for example)?
OR
2) the BCLK can be raised to a maximum interval, so that you can only raise a certain interval from any starting point (96mhz to 99mhz, or 100mhz to 103mhz for example)?

Because the first case was what happened on my i7 2600k - i was able to raise from 97mhz to 106mhz (WHICH IS WHAT I NEED)
The second case is happening on my i7 3930k - i can only raise 3mhz maximum, no matter what the starting point is.

Anyone knows what makes my PC freeze when I raise BCLK more than 3mhz on my i7 3930k, which wasn't the case on my i7 2600k???

Builds :
i7 2600k - air cooler - 8GB DDR3 1600MHZ Kingston - P8P67 Deluxe rev 3.0
i7 3930k - watercooling H55 Corsair - 16GB 2400MHZ Kingston - X79-DELUXE

Thanks!

BCLK Max is different for every motherboard. Why do you specifically want to use BCLK? You have unlocked CPUs...

Like I said, it's because my game is based on the FSB, which depends on the BCLK. So the multiplier won't help, while the BCLK will.
But why would my x79 limit the BCLK to a certain INTERVAL, while the p8p67 would limit the BCLK to a MAXIMUM POINT?
That's what I don't understand

The reason one is at an interval is because thats how it was designed on that motherboard.

I have a couple questions for you and also a statement.
First question is What game is it?
Sencond is why do you think its dependant on the "FBS"?

Then the statement... Its not "FBS" its "FSB"

If this game is truely designed as you say(no game is designed as such) then ANY AMD CPU will dominate your intel rigs. AMD runs at 200 mhz FSB(or 166 i dont remember).

EDIT: on another note... its probably your PCIe Clock causing the issue. Thats generally what causes the most instability i have found

Exactly, AMD is superior to Intel in this game, you're right.
And yes, sorry for this, I meant FSB.
Well it's dependant on FSB because it has been explained on the forums.

About the PCIe clock, is there a way to raise the BCLK without affecting it? By using straps or anything?
The only way would be to manually adjust the PCIe clock after adjusting the BCLK. Not all motherboards support this however. If yours is able to you need to LOWER your PCIe clock the same amount you raise the BCLK. So if you do 103mhz BCLK you need to drop the PCIe clock 3mhz. As for the game itself. I do see that it does give you an advantage HOWEVER... if doing it through software and NOT BIOS they count it as cheating.

EDIT: looking into the game a little more... Bios overclocking does NOTHING for you. its the software Overclocking that does. Which they count as cheating.... So I will no longer be helping you with this. If you do not believe me about the overclocking then look on the games forums some... Then you will see all you are doing is putting your hardware at risk for nothing. Good luck in the cheating

Wait if I raise BCLK through the BIOS, it won't help at all too?

According to the Games Forums BIOS overclocking will not interfere(give advantages) with the program. Only software adjustments will.

Then if it's cheating, we can stop here. Any ways to delete this thread??
