[HELP] PLS help new gaming build - Page 2

Thread Starter
I play more BF4 then GTA V but yeah my 7770 is pretty much outdated gpu for my games but I own it only year biggrin.gif before I play on Nvidia GT 220 and that was pretty big step for me and now I want new step so that is why I start this thread.

So now I want to buy new GPU which is GTX 970 and some new PSU for it. I prefer Corsair RM series but if you have some better then please post it.

As a huge AMD fan who had an 8350 OC'd to 5.1ghz....stay awa from it. There is absolutely no point in buying an AM3 board or chip. It's a dead series and for the price it's sitting at, you're better off with an i5 quad core than you are with an AMD 8 core. The single threaded performance is crap. Heck at 4ghz stock it was bottlenecking my 7950 OC'd to 1150/1500 which is absolutely ridiculous. Put a 400Mhz OC on it and removed it but shouldn't had to do that. The only AMD's worth buying are their APU's and those aren't high end. Even @ 5.1 there were intels that cost a little bit more than stomped all over it.

To what are you referring specifically as a bottleneck? What application at what settings? By and large , any situation that you describe would show a cpu bottleneck no matter what you were running.

Liar, liar, pants on fire! That's not true! Either that's an FX bottlenecking and you photoshopped it or the GPU is just taking a rest for a moment. It happens to all of us, we can't work 100% all the time. Only FX bottleneck!!!

A surprising amount of people would rather believe that than the truth.

EDIT: ooopsie, there it is again 4790k locked at 4.4ghz bottlenecking my 7970 in BF4 multiplayer Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)

I have bookmarked your post for future reference. Don't expect to attract interest, perception is everything. The perception is "these things happen only with FX" and it's not going to change. Now, if you had posted the FX doing that, then yes, you 'd have 10-20 posts following, saying "see? that's exactly what i am talking about. I moved to Intel and i forgot what bottlenecking is. With FX you can bottleneck even a 280X. With Intel the CPU is no more an issue. I never looked back". "As much as i love AMD, this is exactly what was happening to me when i was playing BF. I mean, the GPU would run below even 90% most of the time and switching to Intel was the only choice at that point. With Intel you just can't bottleneck, not even 2 GPUs running in crossfire, it's just the sad truth!". "Ever since i went Intel, when i play BF4, even my dog seems happier!" biggrin.gif
