Well, Skyrim is running on a game engine that is from the early 2000s. Sure, people like to pretend that "Creation" is a new engine, but it is really just a minor fork of Gamebryo.

Now they're running yet another "new engine" that is just a fork of Creation for FA4. So, realistically, you're looking at a 2010 era game engine at best.

As long as the engine is properly multi threaded and isn't a bug r-ddled mess it's fine.

Creation Engine was bad because Bethesda screwed it up, not because the engine itself was bad.

And you have faith now in the same people who messed it up the last time? Erm... alright.

This tells me you have no concept of what it means to go from a 32bit engine to a 64bit engine. Doubt all you want but that just makes you one of those awful band wagoners who are talking about things they don't understand.

What I understand is that you really like defending your beloved Bethesda through irrelevant excuses and selective memory.

Bethesda has proven time and time again that they are either incapable of or unwilling to create a stable working game running on anything that even remotely resembles GameBryo. None of their vaunted breakthroughs in the past ever panned out, and expecting this case to be inexplicable different could only be born of ignorance or stupidity.

Would you trust Sergey Titov to create a new game today, after Big Rigs, The War Z, and all his other comic horror stories of games, just because you handed him a copy of [insert engine of choice here]? No, of course you wouldn't. His past failures, while certainly not helped by his poor choice of engines, were even more certainly not dependent on said engines.

No sir. I fully understand the benefits and added capabilities of moving to a 64 bit engine - especially for a game world like one would expect in a Elder Scrolls/Fallout game. I also fully understand the complexity of transitioning their engine from 32 to 64 bit, and while you seem to think said complexity will encourage Bethesda to toss out the old and broken and do things right from the ground up this time, those of us who are capable of actually looking at Bethesda's history see a very different sequence of events - one which involves a lot more tripping and faltering over every step, resulting in an even more broken mess than what they started with.

Usually im right there with you, your a solid poster here IMO. But a bit off here. First off its not gamebryo its creation. It still has some code from gamebryo but not much. So to keep using it like that's all that was used to make it is outright wrong. Second there is a huge difference between Bethesda (who can be lazy or at least low standards) and the jerk face known as Sergey. Skyrim ran fine for me, new vegas ran fine for me as well, as did F3. I know they had some issues but are a far cry from DayZ's garbage. Its simply not ok to make that comparison.

The truth is we know nothing yet. THis is the first game being made for next gen with a fully implemented engine. We have seen some great looking screenshots, and some terrible leaked ones. People making their opinions fact long before we have samples in our hands are only misleading people. You don't know what its going to be like, nor do I for good or bad. I will say this though. Those of us who enjoy the series beyond its flaws know not to have high hopes and don't care regardless. We enjoy the story and atmosphere anyways. Your not converting anyone im sure, nor are we converting you, so the point in arguing this early is just stupid.
