My new ASUS Z10PE-D8 WS will not POST.

My configuration is:

CPU: 2x Intel Xeon E5-2620 v4 (2.10GHz, 85W, 8 cores, 20MB cache, hyper-threading)
RAM: 2x KINGSTON KVR21R15D4/32 32GB DDR4-2133MHZ CL15 ECC registered
SSD: 1x Samsung 960 EVO M.2 PCIe NVMe 500GB
GPU: 1x PCI express that definitely works

For reference:

Case: Phanteks Enthoo Luxe PH-ES614L
PSU: EVGA Supernova 1600 P2 Platinum 1600W modular
CPU cooling: 2x Corsair H90 140mm liquid CPU cooler

Q-Code LED stops at b7, which based on the ASUS manual (p2-27) is "Configuration Reset (reset of NVRAM settings)".

The same happens after disconnecting everything from the motherboard (including SSD+GPU) except 2x CPUs, 2x RAMs, 1x 24-pin EATX power, 2x 8-pin 12V CPU power, 2x CPU fan+pump powers.

The same with only 1x CPU and 1x DIMM (on socket A1) or 2x DIMMs (on sockets A1 and B1). With 2x CPUs, DIMMs are on sockets A1 and E1. All these are the sockets designated by the manual (p 2-13).

The same after clearing RTC RAM and updating the BIOS to version 3304 via the rear USB BIOS Flashback port and button (p. 2-34 on manual).

Any ideas?

Anything new here? I just ordered pretty much the same stuff home for a client.

I have contacted ASUS. I have tested with BIOS 3304 and only power, CPU and RAM connected. I have reported the beeps heard without any RAM (one long, two short). I have sent them photos of the RAM chips. The chips are different on the two modules, although the modules are of the same model. One is officially supported (SKhynix chips, made in Korea), the other is not (made in China).

Anyhow, the problem remains with a single CPU + single RAM module (the supported one), and the motherboard is supposed to work in this configuration, as confirmed by ASUS. After that, ASUS recommends arranging with supplier for return, testing and possible replacement in case of hardware failure. I have not done that yet. It would be complex and take time.

In the meantime, I see there is a new BIOS 3403, dated 2017/01/05. I might try it first. I might also try the second CPU, which had to be returned for another reason; I'll get its replacement tomorrow, hopefully. But ASUS says it's unlikely that the issue is with the CPUs or memory modules.

Hi all. After some delay i finally got my machine working as should. First board was dead, asus RMA was perfect luckily. This up till now has been almost problem free.

3 780'ti are for testing mostly. I'm eyeballing some other gpu's although i'm a bit weary about issues with pascal cards, or shouldn't i? I see there's an uefi/bios update.

I managed to get everything in a small s340, it turned out to be really easy with some small mods. Airflow is a bit weird but works fine up till now. (radiators exhaust front and back, top and front fan intake.

2696 v3 x 2, 128gb samsung ddr4, 3 x 780 ti, 960 evo & sm951 nvme ssd's. psu= ax1500i, bios 3204.

But I really want 2679 v4's now i know they exist lol. biggrin.gif Although, think the bord can handle the 200watt tdp?

Hi guys,

Anyone know if this motherboard supports 7 gpu? I keep seeing the guys that have done this mention they have custom BIOS. Also considering the x99-e ws but I was told there was an issue with that board and 7 gpu.

Thanks,
Anthony

Jez that is a site to see!! I sent this image to NZXT haha.

I did a z10pe-d8 build with e5-2687w v4's with no issues. They have had some renders take 20hrs on it so it gets worked. Used Phanteks ph-tc12dx coolers on it in a Corsair 750D so more airflow than the s340.

Hello to all

I could not write to the topic for a while. I saw a post on a forum in Turkey and I was wondering that it is true or not ?

As you know E5 2683 v3 operates at 2500 Mhz without overclock tuner and gets 33000 cpu-z benchmark points but in this photo this guy has over 40k points. Somehow managed to run the cpus are at their maximum frequencies which are 3100 mhz nearly.

Can someone explain me this ? Is there a setting in the bios related with that ?

You need to mod your BIOS (or use a really old version) to force the CPU to boot up without new micro code. There was a bug in Haswell-EP that allows you to do this until it got patched through micro code updates.

I know that he is not using a modified bios. He is using 3403 original bios. Maybe some settings in bios ?

Could be. As long as you mange to delay the loading of new microcode somehow it works.
