[Help] New X99 build , 5820K or 5930K - Page 2

post #11 of 20
you'd have to check out the spec sheet of your systemboard of choice to figure out how the pcie lanes will be allocated vs 5820k or 5930k for your m.2 drive.

- 2-way mode: x16/ x0/ x0/ x16/ x0*, x16/ x0/ x0/ x8/ x0**

it is going to use 24 lanes for 2 gpu but i think if i add pcie SSD then the gpu will downgrade to 8x which is like 1FPS drop in the game and i think thats fine ....

We have already concluded that by running 2x gpu with a 5820k, your second card will run at 8x speed. What I wanted you to check was whether your m.2 slot is shared with any sata port. I know on my asrock mobo, if I connect certain sata ports, other ones don't work.

For example, if you will only run 2xgpu, 1 m.2 ssd with no optical/hdd etc. Then yes, you will get 16x8x4 speeds. (if your m.2 supports pcie 4x speeds)

Well as far as my storage goes , i think it will use intel or Marvell chip , not actual cpu lanes and SM951 uses PCI-Ex4 lanes for proper speed

these will be my Hard disk drives other then SM951
1TB SSD for photos/videos and games
2x3TB in Raid0 -> data and content
4TB - data and content
no optical drive

so Msi X99A gaming 9 ack has 6 SATA3.0 ports and two sata express ports , in one which will be disabled when i will use SM951 , so i will still have 8 ports remaining and i require 4 ports other then SATA Express ... so what do you think that all will be good ? with no bottle nect issue ?

First off there is no such thing as a Corsair AV.

Second in case you are not aware the power draw numbers you got if they are from the wall is not actually what your system uses.
You have to take the rated efficiency of your PSU off the power draw numbers you get from the wall.

And please start your own thread next time instead of necro an old dead thread.

I was in a similar situation but yesterday FRYs had a deal that prices the 5930k almost exactly the same as the 5820k and you get a motherboard. So I went for this deal it should be here today.
