if prefer intake so the back is out as there is no filter.

You will mount it at the back of the case where the rear exhaust fan is. thumb.gif

there is no filter on that mount.

i would like to use the h80i as intake, not exaust.

my current case is mounted there as exaust and the thermals stink. mostly due to the space heater called my 290 vapor-x.

unless anyone has any better ideas ill do push/pull top as intake and stick an additional intake fan in the bank spot.

Will post a few pictures later, but I am almost finished modding the Maker 5 IO panel, nothing spectacular only changed out all red LEDs for orange ones.

Also will post a picture of what the Pro 5 looks like all taken apart. Will be painted sometime next week.

Orange indicators and Blue Power/HDD. I don't use the fan controller so I don't have it plugged in. Hoping to reuse the switch for something else. I am definitely going to replace the Fan controller LEDs, since I don't understand why all three had to be red.

The blue LED was very easy, it is just soldered to the end of two wires, even the Pro 5 and standard 5 are set up the same way.The four above the USB sockets were pretty easy with the correct tools, A good soldering iron, extra solder and a solder sucker or wick would do it. There are four discrete 3mm LEDs on a short board which were removed and new ones soldered in their place. The fan speed switch is three LEDs on a circuit board with a few other components Those also can be taken out and replaced with other colored 3mm LEDs. I also replaced the LED on/off indicator to the same color blue LED. Will probably make the fan indicator blue on one side orange in the middle and green on the other.

Simple procedure
  1. Heat the iron
  2. Melt some solder on the tip
  3. Place over the pad and physically add solder to the LED leads, this helps to melt the existing solder without applying too much heat
  4. User the solder sucker to suck out all the solder from the lead
  5. Once both sides are done the LED can be pulled off the board and a new one inserted
  6. Solder the new leads
  7. Clip off the extra length

I am a gamer, a horrible gamer, but still. I also hate red highlights, almost as much as my daughter hates all things pink. So the red LEDs had to go. I think this is where a lot of case manufacturers miss the boat, they seem to think that if it's for a gaming rig, it has to be lit up all red. My personal opinion was Cooler Master got it right on the 5 and Pro 5 with white LED, no idea why they had to change that for the Maker 5 to red.
