Honestly, what's a worthy upgrade from a HD7870?
GTX 970/ R9 290x I'm thinking is the minimum upgrades..

hmm I decided not to buy 950/960 because of 2GB vram issue.

1GB 7790 I already face vram not enough issue, 950/960 is twice of 7790 with only 2GB vram which is about the speed of gtx 770. i think in future these gpu will face vram not enough if I ever come to play a Skyrim successor or mod-able games like fallout 4.

4GB 960 isnt an option either as it is priced too close to 970.

I don't know where you live but in Europe, 4gb can be had pretty much for the same price as 2gb.

Hello folks, new guy here and currently hot for the gtx950 (I've fot the gts250 and hopping for a great jump in performance).
I've got a sweet deal 140E (r7 370 is over 150E), but currently the windforce is not on stock so my question goes to this

http://www.gigabyte.com/products/pro...px?pid=5549#kf
http://www.gigabyte.com/products/pro...px?pid=5550#kf

Why has the windforce (shown on the website bigger jump over the 750ti then the stock with one fan)?

I just bought a GTX 950 for 150 USD and I'm pretty satisfied, after a BIOS mod I reached Core 1556.5 MHz and Memory 8000MHz.
Stable with almost of stress test like OCCT, Furmark, Fluidmark... benchmarked with 3DMark, Valley and Heaven...

That's a model available only in Chinese market

Nice OC. Can share your ambient temp & GPU temps during gaming / load?

If I recall correctly, yours should be similar with this one: https://www.zotac.com/product/graphics_card/gtx-950-oc . Not exactly the same, but similar. Perhaps different market different product smile.gif

I'm using the single fan (mini / ITX) version; https://www.zotac.com/product/graphics_card/gtx-950.

My OC settings;
- Core: boost clock 1441 Mhz (+175 Mhz)
- VRAM: 6660 Mhz (+50 Mhz)
- Power target default at 105%

I try OC the VRAM, but somehow Unigine Valley benchmark gives slightly lower FPS. So I just leave the VRAM at default.

With that setting, Tomb Raider 2013 benchmark (ultimate settings with TressFX on) on 1080p gives me 51.4 fps average (36.9 fps min).

I wonder how much more I can OC the core without adding too much power & heat thumb.gif

You can get a 960 for like $185 now

And where is the damn 960ti Nvidia ?? there is a $150 gap between the cheapest 960 and the cheapest 970.

they refuse to further cut-down a GTX970 256bit "4GB" into a GTX960Ti 192bit 3GB.

I have to say sorry to everyone, because I uploaded a ROM not optimized and unstable. Parameters are almost the same of yours, @ignsvn thumb.gif

My settings;
- Core 1455.5 MHz
- VRAM 8000 MHz
- Power target default at 180%

Now, stressing this GPU for 30 minutes with Furmark at 1920 x 1080 in full screen mode, temperature are between 70 ~ 80C, core voltage at 1.560, TDP 70 ~80%. I have to go on decreasing the voltage and the power target...

@ignsvn the GPU model that you found, like you said, is pretty similar at mine smile.gif I have to optimize a little bit more my ROM and I will share with everyone my results.

Enjoy your Sunday!

I personally try to stay around 70C GPU temp as the VRM temps are usually higher than the GPU temp (From what I read, VRM temp are usually 15-25C hotter than the GPU temp, depending on card).

Not sure if it's considered too conservative though & I don't know if the small heatsink can cope with anymore extra heat.

FYI my room ambient temp is usually around 25-27C.

My settingsat today:

- Core 1455.5 MHz
- VRAM 8000 MHz
- Power target default at 150% (165W)

Now, stressing this GPU for 30 minutes with Furmark at 1920 x 1080 in full screen mode, temperature on 75C, core voltage at 1.560V, TDP 95%.

@ignsvn you have a single fan and temperature similar at mine, so keep your OC like it is thumb.gif
