I'm definitely cautious of any unintentional derailment in this thread. My post wasn't meant as an eSlap of any kind; I'm always looking to take on board new sources of information (for all I know, that benchmark I posted previously could be off-point entirely).

Anything discussed in here should definitely be aimed towards helping out the OP in some way. If you feel some extra screenshoting from your son's rig could help out the OP, definitely feel free to add it to the conversation. If you feel it's moving away from the focus of this thread, definitely feel free to keep it out of the conversation

Cheers for the additions to the thread so far smile.gif

WoW is pretty CPU bound, plus FX chips are not that great, you should definitely upgrade that. A decent i5 or heck, even an i3 should perform WAY better IMHO

Thread Starter
Thanks for all the replys. I will look into a i5 system in a couple of months. Right now my budget is either upgrade one part, or set the money aside. After reading online I found a couple ways of monitoring the system while playing WoW.

I did so, and GPUZ shows my GPU usage at 98-99% all the time, while my CPU usage is only running anywhere from 40-60%. So that tell me my graphics card is the limiting factor here, correct ? I can upload a screenshot of the data if needed.

Look at my System on my Profile and tell me why I can't have more FPS in Stormshield than 30- 40 FPS

Graphics Driver Reinstalled => Win7 and 10 got the same issue
4790k @ 4,6Ghz
My RAM is 1600mhz & 11 Latency but that shouldn't make any problems.
benchmarks and other Games run as good as they should redface.gif

No idea, those are rather decent specifications. Thought you had a low end GPU but considering the fact that you got a 980Ti you should be getting much better performance. However you must note that WOW is an old and outdated game, it doesnt utilize hardware very efficiently hence why you might get low CPU and GPU usage, some CPU cores might be even idling. There is not much you can on your side I guess, I dont play WOW so I dont have a performance reference.

It might be both. CPU might be 100% on one core and 33% on the 3 others, so it'd be limited by the per core IPC from that perspective.

Lower settings to reduce GPU load and see how your Framerate behaves. Settings are a bit more GPU heavy than CPU heavy usually.

Also with regard to the GPU, you could raise its Power Limit via MSI Afterburner and see if it helps. Higher power limit allows the GPU to be closer to its maximum stock clock, even if it'd draw more power than its specs say. I always set my GPUs to max power limit I can set it to, even if I'm underclocking/volting. = D Just in case.

That is an odd issue. Even my Alienware laptop doesn't drop below 60 with everything maxed "including shadows" 4x MSAA. That is unless doing Kazzak with 40+ people, then I dip to the high 30s low 40s. Are you running windowed mode? Because that would do it.
