[BBC News] July was Earth's hottest month on record, NOAA says - Page 47

Does it matter? Humans are not capable to change for best. We can just hope we can colonize another planet before Earth throws us off her back. We don't deserve to live on it.
All we can do is to adopt to the new conditions warmer climate, floods, draught, war... I keep saying us humans, we could be so much more but no, money... more money...
Now that I got that out of me I think we should be more nature oriented when researching new technologies, finding new possibilities that incorporates nature and not fight against it. At least until we are capable to control it. But then again I'm back to money, money does not allow us to be more nature oriented because it for free. Makes my brain hurt seeing how non sense Homo sapiense is.
I am at the point where I stopped believing anyone. Global warming or not, I know this is a normal cyclic process and I'm not worried at all. I only fear people...

Don't worry BLM protestors will throw humanity under everything that moves and when there is no one left to point to fingers at they'll throw their compatriots under for good measure. thumb.gif

Enough with the extinction talk. We could heat the planet to the hottest it's ever been and melt every bit of ice to be found and our species will still thrive and overpopulate. If climate change happens incredibly rapidly we'll see huge social upheavals as hoards of coastal people are displaced, but that will just be a blip in our long term growth. Wars will happen, people will die, but we will continue to breed like rats.

It will suck for those people, but we will continue to thrive as a species no matter what we do short of a nuclear holocaust.

Every time some climate fanatic talks like the survival of our very species is at risk due to climate change I just roll my eyes and start to ignore the delusional follower.

I'm not a climate crusader because as I've said before the planet don't give a crap about the self absorbed species called homo sapiens who claimed to be so smart but couldn't decide to stave off their own self caused suffering (possibly extinction). But, I'll keep trying to tell people there's a tsunami coming but if they want to go chase the receding tide before it comes and have no chance to escape it then that's their choice. Can't save stupid. At least they'll die happy right?
You're absolutely right about the whole diversion thing but sadly it doesn't matter what size or who's in charge of the government because they answer to corporate controls who fight each other using the government as a weapon.

Now, the EPA spill, what is needed to be said? It's bad, no one is denying it happened and I'm sure we'll eventually end up with some kind of settlement happening because lawyers need paychecks too (profit motive in action).

The reason it isn't going to get much coverage is also because of profit motive; it was in one geographic region, didn't have a huge corporate influence (so no hate train to milk), and so on. People need to grow up and realize there isn't this corporation against the government crap. That's a pantomime put on so you don't see them using the government for their own gain and against you. And that doesn't mean that the government is bad but it currently is the best way to maximize positions in the market.

PS: Conspiracy theories like anthropogenic climate change denial, vaccine-autism linkers, and so on also share a profit motive. What again is the profit motive for scientist? Sigh, never seen so many crazies on either side of an issue as I have here. So much cool aid on both sides. Why are people such extremists?

The very sad fact is your describing a fascist society. My grandparents generation would be so disappointed in what this country has turned into. mad.gif

We need to go back to our roots in the founding documents or we are so screwed.

Why so much doom and gloom? If we work together we can do much better than we are. People have gotten so soft, never really struggled for needs for several generations. These are the good times people. We are our only real problem.

I'm no delusional follower of either side. Al Gore is a profiteer the same way those that feed the denialers (Koch bros, BP, etc) are profiteers. The change isn't going be anything as fast as Al Gore profitsized (at least not for a while it might accelerate more like many feedback systems do). But that doesn't mean it isn't going to happen and we have nothing to worry about.

The only species I know that might have a chance to survive anything are either ants, bacteria, viruses, or tardigrades. Complex organisms are extremely fragile and it wouldn't take much to kill humans. The more complex a system(which a living organism is) the more points of failure exists.

We need to go back to our roots in the founding documents or we are so screwed.

Actually, it isn't fascism. Fascism is the government and industry merging and individual freedom/pride is suppressed; we live in corporatism in which the government remains separate to maintain the illusion of freedom but controlled as needed for corporate benefit.

We don't need to go back to roots. We need to simply balance controls in logical ways. It's not small or big...it's best fit and most optimal that should be the goal.

I so wish we could get Thorium or at least modern nuclear designs working. Fracking is just another short sighted stop gap that's fine so long as it doesn't become another distraction/crutch.

I'm not saying we are are at pre WWII levels of fascism, but the road down the path we are on is not good.

And it is looking a lot like this now , not a free market economy at all. - "Fascists advocate a mixed economy, with the principal goal of achieving autarky through protectionist and interventionist economic policies" scorce-https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fascism

And I could not disagree more about our country's roots. The Constitution and its ideals are why we have it so good today.

We can build safe, small, reactors now, its not politically allowed.

Earth and nature, will always find a way - for all we know it could be self adapting... Soon the Earth will get so warm/hot that the Dinosaurs can come back and live in the environment again!

In 10 years when your coast line is missing 10-20 ft you'll be singing a different tune (based on the latest models which are actually too slow). We're talking scientific fact. You guys are the crazies, not me.

That will be due to another environmental science principle called costal erosion caused by the ever changing tides and currents. Beaches are actually temporary structures and sand erosion is inevitable. It happened long before we were here although you won't find that data in any ice cores. It really makes me laugh that we can be so short sighted as a species and have such tunnel vision when forming these opinions. I suppose we also cause the continents to drift apart too, that could undoubtedly have a stronger effect on the coastline than the ever melting polar caps anyways.

I am 33 years old BTW, but I don't see how that has anything to do with the debate at hand. Just another attempt to poison the well of your opponents and attempt to create a straw man...
