All I am saying is if someones reliability on what they say is dependent on the source of their funding...Sorry the government has their own agenda as well as any other outside entity...
So if Unicorn wishes to dismiss the reliability on that alone...ALOT of other scientists conclusions can be suspect as well....but too many will turn a blind eye to that and just spout what they believe....
HOWEVER....if the government gave EQUAL funding to scientists to DISPROVE man made global warming....My guess is a REAL debate will occur rather than "the science is settled on this...no need for debate here" crap we are getting now...
Hmm, how to respond?
Reductio ad absurdum seems like a fun fallacy to use, so I pick that:
Correct. Similarly, I believe that the government should also give equal funding both to groups who propose modern medicine can treat/cure disease, and also to people who say that disease can be cured by chugging copious amounts of mercury. I believe this will put an end to the mercury vs medicine debate once and for all.
I am old enough to remember "the world is become a giant ice ball" panic these same people spouting in the 70s...then abruptly in the mid to late 80s suddenly the world is going to turn into one of the layers in "Dante's Inferno"... Then it turned to "climate change" in the late
Yes, because that's what the evidence suggested at the time. And then we started to learn more. And more. And more. And now we've come to a different conclusion. That's how science works. It isn't some authoritative entity that dictates "THIS IS TRUE," but rather an approach to problem solving and answering questions. 30-40 years ago, the answer seemed to be "future = cold," but now we're seeing more data suggesting the opposite.
(inb4 "But that means all science is wrong!")

Not to mention the Earth has been WAY hotter and way colder than it is now. Again, without a human to be found.
