Last time I bought an OCZ ARC100 120GB SSD for my backup rig,I have to say it's pretty good.

Already rocking with an Intel 730 240GB in my main rig.
But I wanted to try another SSD for my main rig,especially a Micron Crucial SSD.

However,I'm not satisfied with the warranty policy from the agents in Taiwan.(Yep,I live in Taiwan.)

So I looked into the the ADATA SP920,which is a rebranded product from Micron Crucial.

The SP920 shares a close relationship with M550,not only the parts but also the firmware.

The packaging,I got a black boxed one,there's also a white version.

Back of the box.
*It's worth mentioning about that the write speed of 128GB/256GB version is a bit limited compared to 512GB/1TB version
due to the NAND flash implementation.(M550 uses 64Gb dies in those ones,SP920 on the other hand,uses 128Gb ones.)

Besides the SSD,ADATA also comes with some accessories.
7mm to 9.5mm height pad
2.5" to 3.5" bracket
User manual

This one's got a warranty sticker. >:|

SATA 6Gb/s connector.(Of course it will be compatible with SATA 3Gb/s.)
You can check your warranty expiration date or get the Acronis True image HD 2013 serial number on ADATA's site with the Warranty Code from here.

Test setup: Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
CPU:Intel Core i5 2400(TB off,C1E&EIST off)
RAM:Kingston HyperX Genesis DDR3 1600MHz 4GB*2 @CL9
Motherboard:MSI Z77MA-G45(BIOS ver. 1.B)
Graphics Card:MSI GTX670 Power Edition(Driver:353.30 WHQL)
NIC:Intel 9301CT
Power supply:Seasonic G-650W
OS:Windows 7 Home Premium 64 Bit
Case:Corsair Air 240 White(Lacking airflow in HDD side. )
Room temp:30 degree C.

Z77 PCH:
SATA_0 6Gb/s: Intel 730 240GB(FW:L2010420) as system drive.
SATA_1 6Gb/s:ADATA SP920 256GB(FW:MU01) as test subject.
SATA_2 3Gb/s:Seagate ST1000DM003 1TB
Using msahci as AHCI driver. TRIM is on.

ADATA SP920 spec:
Controller:Marvell 88SS9189
DRAM:Single Micron DDR3 256MB in 256GB version.
NAND Flash: 8x Micron Synchronous 20nm MLC flash chip.(128Gb die)
No level 2 over-provisioning.

The ceramic capacitor array which you can find on the PCB only provides data-at-rest power loss protection.(Just like Crucial M500/M550/MX100.)

Using SSD-Z and SSDOK to check the status of the drive.(Used condition.)

SMART attribute.(See the the C4 attribute? Same as M550 in MU01.)

AS SSD Benchmark(incompressible)

ATTO Disk Benchmark(compressible)

Anvil's Storage Benchmark(100% incompressible)
====
Iometer v1.1.0
I/O pattern is Pseudo Random(*incompressible.)

Drive is purged(Secure Erased) with PartedMagic.(Not in enhanced mode.)

And quick formatted into NTFS in Windows 7 disk management.
====

Steady-State & Performance Consistency (100% LBA,RAW)

Not very high.
It's worth mentioning that the SMART attribute reported 60 degree C while performing SEQ Write 128K QD=32.
ADATA had mentioned the operating temperature to be 0~70 degree C in the specs.

(Remember,this is in the worse case scenario,no airflows and 30 degree C,so it's pretty safe to use under normal environments.)

====
I would say SP920 is a good choice if you want a cheaper M550.
(But the write speed in 128GB/256GB version will be slower than the corresponding M550.)

That's it folks,my review of the ADATA SP920. smile.gif
