[Videocardz]AMD Radeon R9 Nano confirmed to feature 4096 Stream Cores (up to 1000MHz) - Page 13

I think I'd take the ~15-20% (what the performance difference most likely will be with actual benchmarks not from AMD) performance hit to save nearly $350, and also gain HDMI 2.0 so I can actually play HDCP content.

Also, I'd like to say I told you so to ILeakStuff that his predictions on prices were absolutely ridiculous. There wasn't a single chance on earth this card was going to be priced lower than the Fury, let alone the Fury X, which it shares the same full Fiji core.

I honestly think you would have to be stupid to purchase this card, particularly if you are using a 4K HDMI 2.0 TV, because that is going to be $650 + the cost of the DP to HDMI 2.0 Active Adapter.

Beautiful card and a premium price for a premium product. thumb.gif Efficiency is the name of the game these days so this ultra efficient Nano demands the premium. smile.gif

Really disappointing price - Its quite a shock to the system really , a *** moment for sure when i read that. , considering the card looks fantastic if slides are to be believed.

I could understand a price in between the Fury and the Fury x as its a full core and highly binned, but jeez it has to be cheaper to make the Fury X with cheaper PCB - cheaper cooler.

At this price it won't find many buyers IMHO - that could almost be the strategy however if they don't have many to sell.

Edit: Also custom cards in 3 months? That's interesting.

This is freaking bullcrap. Way to totally destroy any interest in this card AMD.

You can get TWO GTX 970 Mini (which is overclocked and have 160W TDP) for $600. TWO cards in SLI that destroy this R9 Nano for less money.
The hell AMD?

Gamers will only get the Fury X due to better overclocking and cooling since it cost the same as Nano. ITX builders are far better off with 970Mini in SLI.

Who the hell makes the decisions for pricing on the cards at AMD? Are they stupid?
Screw AMD

The management is downright dumb and clueless. They are surely running the company into the ground. First it was CPUs and now GPUs. All hail the monopolies - Intel and Nvidia. With this kind of idiots running AMD their death is not far off. tongue.gif

ITX.
SLI.

But other than that agreed. If they had to price this thing at $650 to meet their target margins, they shouldn't have launched it at all.

DTX. Checkmate atheists!

Edit: Actually, now that I think about it, I don't know of any mini GTX 970 that could be converted into a single slot form factor card to even think about SLI'ing on DTX>

LOL, how do you run SLI on a mini-itx board. I would like to know how. If you could pls teach all of us. Maybe you could use a PCIE extension adaptor but you will have problems fitting into a chassis.

Oh please. Anyone with a half brain understand that this card cost way way less than $650 to make. It have few VRMs, the power circuitry is pathetic compared to Fury and GTX 980, the cooling consist of one tiny plastic fan, the card and pcb is short and consist of just a little materials.
The performance will perhaps be +20% in 1080p yet they ask over 100% price over 970 which is also a mini card with great thermals.

No, its me and the rest of the dissapointed people here that had the right predictions that had a realistic price expectation here. But we all forgot that this is AMD, the morons that are currently worth 1/10 of what they used to.

What a joke of a company.

Im convinced now. They have absolutely no freaking clue about what they are doing.
Their engineers are probably good but the people on management that set price, prepare launches etc are morons and should be fired for AMD to even have a chance to survive this.

My 7950 does fit into the case, but it is a huge pain whenever I need to take it out for cleaning - I have to remove the HDD cage and the CPU fan from the case before removing the card, which is tedious. sweat.gif

It might not appeal to the HTPC crowd, but for those with tiny cases, this card is a godsend to them.

Don't write off a product just because it does not appeal to you. This is obviously a product that appeals to a very small crowd, and I happen to belong to that crowd. thumb.gif

The problem is that Nano will be too niche for AMD's good. They need to sell more cards right now. The price is going to kill it.

Of course, mini-itx itself is already quite a niche sector.
