[Build Log] "Mine Fix" Semi-Portable on the Cheap

Long story short: you guys suck.

Short story long: You give invaluable information, lots of pics, and awesome help. Then I use this to build an awesome PC and get hooked. But I can't play while I'm on travel, so I'm forced to build a semi-portable PC. Now I'm spending more money. You guys suck.

But I love each and every one of you.

Purpose: I'm now fairly addicted to gaming (Minecraft, especially), and need to get my fix when I'm not at home. Thus, I'm making a semi-portable build. I say "semi-" because I will still need to lug around a keyboard, mouse, and power cables, but I plan to mount a monitor on the side, beef up the chassis, and make it mostly wireless (ie- power is the only thing to plug in and turn on).

Right now, still in planning, but I have a few key parts: case, PSU, mobo, memory, CPU cooler, awesome RGB lights.

Ugly-as-sin case:

(yes, I have all the parts for it)

My plan is to tear it down, clean it up, repaint, and "decorate". The monitor will get mounted on the left ("behind" the motherboard) with a frame to go under the whole thing.

There is a vent in the top with no place for a fan. Mr. Dremel will take care of that.

Parts:

mobo: AsRock z97 OC Formula
memory: Ballistix 2x 4G
cooler: evo 212
PSU: 530W

And the rest? I'm 85% on this lineup, but please smack me upside the head if anything looks awry:

Again, you guys suck. Seriously, the best.

printed out some brackets

3.5" SSD caddy

3.5" to 5.25" adapters

I want to print out some brackets for the lower-rear 80mm fan, so it's not just zip-tied on.

And I'm working on some front-panel vent-plates to replace the solid block-offs. Both in the 3.5" and 5.25" variety. Message me if you have interest in them.

aaaand crap. It's stuck in a boot loop. On for 2 seconds, off for 2 seconds.

It was a bad stick of memory.

Ubuntu is installing right now.

Thanks! It looks even better with lights. I want to add more to the bottom, once I put the g-card in, it'll get pretty dark underneath.
