zvonexp, are you a Gigabyte rep?

Which motherboards uses the Intel Alpine Ridge controller for USB 3.1 C / Thunderbolt 3/ DP 1.2, not only as a USB 3.1 controller?

Which motherboards have HDMI 2.0 HDCP 2.2?

It's possible to use the Alpine Ridge controller for DP 1.2 to HDMI 2.0 without the MegaChip converter, using the USB-C port.

Hi, I recently purchased a GA-Z170-HD3P and a i5-6600K and am interested in overclocking it.

However, I've run into a few issues: all the manual controls seem to be "locked". The motherboard is identifying the CPU as a K-series chip so it should be overclockable. The only overclocking I seem to be able to do is enable XMP, or use one of the built-in "overclock profiles", but not both and there are various issues even getting this working. For example, the built-in overclock profiles seem to set the memory frequency to 1600, regardless of if I have XMP profiles enabled or not. This is after loading the optimized defaults/factory configurations.

I've tried updating the bios to the beta F3e version and that doesn't change anything for me.

System setup:

CPU: i5-6600K
Motherboard: GA-Z170-HD3P
Memory: Corsair Vengeance LPX 16GB DDR4-2666
SSD: Samsung 850 evo 500GB
PSU: Corsair CX600M
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

Any help would be appreciated.

Hello all, just to be added to the Gigabyte Motherboard Owner's Club.

I bought a GA-Z170XP-SLI, with a 6600k CPU and a 2x8GB Corsair 2666mhz memory kit. Got it at Newegg as a combo with the memory, meaning I paid under $130, which I think is a very good deal. Anyone knows whats the meaning of the P??

I almost damaged my CPU by connecting my X60 cooler to the CPU Fan header instead of the CPU_OPT header, as stated in the manual. Lesson learned. My previous board was a GA-990FXA-UD3 rev1.1 with a (1st gen) FX8350@4.4ghz. I had good experience with that Gigabyte board, so I decided to stick with the brand.

Kit swap was very straight forward and other than having to move some cables behind the motherboard tray (and the above mentioned CPU cooler hiccup) the system posted right away. Installed Windows 10 Home edition and all drivers without a single problem. Just skipped igpu and integrated sound card, as I have dedicated ones.

I'm glad the BIOS has full overclocking/adjustable settings, as I want to overclock my CPU.

My only real issue so far is that I'm unable to get the memories to run at 2666mhz on stock 1.2v. They work fine at 2133mhz 15-15-15-36 and also at 2400mhz 16-18-18-35. I guess I have to increase the voltages a bit, but I don't have that much experience overclocking memory.

Specs and picture inside my case:
6600K @ stock (for now)
GA-Z170XP-SLI
Corsair 2x8GB 2666mhz CAS16
R9 390 Nitro
Asus DGX
NZXT Kraken X60
NZXT Phantom 630

When fan control is gonna work?

I've got gaming 7 and you can't save profiles, bios doesn't change anything (it's always on normal even if you setup to silent and you don't have software installed). So every time Windows starts you have to setup your profile.

I would report the issue to Gigabyte Tech Support, maybe they will fix it >> http://www.gigabyte.com/support-downloads/technical-support.aspx

Anyone have seen or know where to find a DDR4 overclocking / tweaking guide? I can't go over 2400mhz 16-18-18-36 1T, even after going up to 1.35v. My memory kit is rated at 2666, so at least I would like to reach that setting.

My 6600k CPU is overclocking very well in my XP-SLI board. I have reached 4.55Ghz stable @ 1.375v High LLC. With a really low rpm, low noise fan profile on my X60, max temp on Prime95 stress test is 86°C. Gaming temps remain under 75°C all the time. Pretty happy about this.

Thanks, I got mine through Newegg Eggexpert program so I will be doing a review as soon as my chip and memory get here.
