Not all 170 series get final BIOS,so wait for avail.
Btw,
seems beta is better then final.

In F20 you find that option under Advanced CPU Core settings below all those intel turbo options. It's just called Intel Speed Shift. In windows(you need Windows 10 1607 to use it) you can check for it via hwinfo or aida64:

F8 Bios hasn't got speed shift implemented , checked in the bios and with HWINFO64 and SST IS reded out so its not working , as your are running SST have you noticed a more responsive system by any chance.

Kind of feeling the same about the Z170X Gaming GT board.

Hmmm.... based on some of the complaints about GPU's not working correctly and other odd issues with some F20 BIOS' on some Z170 boards, I think I'll happily wait for an official release now.

Ahh good to know, well it's actually hard to tell if it feels more responsive because it is already very responsive, it feels good but it's not a game changer. I mean we're using such a beast of a CPU and made it even faster with OC, so it's already very responsive on my end. But when I use hardware monitoring for clocks, I would say it's much quicker in scaling as far as I can tell and through this runs cooler. I know this contradicts my earlier statement about F20 is good because of speedshift when I'm saying it's not THAT appearent, but I mean I just wanted to say it's not just a new GUI with only flaws under it. In my opinion F20d was great because I had no problems with it except maybe the timings of my RAM and I like that we're finally able to use every skylake feature for it's full potential.

But now that I'm reading about more problems I'n not sure if I would recommend it anymore biggrin.gif

Im really wanting to update the bios to f20 as the speed shift technology does sound good from what i've been reading as it offloads the process from the O/S and lets the cpu handle all p-states , which in turn is faster than the O/S doing it as the cpu isnt waiting for instructions from the O/S about workloads, however as there is still some bugs with f20 even though it a final version i think i would be wise to wait for more bios builds , hopefully there will be more to come for us .

I am building a budget build for a friend of mines son for Christmas ($650 including Windows 10)

So far I am going with:

i3 6100 Skylake
8GB GSkill Aegis DDR4
GTX 950 (Maybe a 960 if we can fit it in the budget)
WD Blue 1TB
EVGA 400-500W Power Supply (which ever one is cheaper or on sale for around $40)

So I need help with a mother board. Would any Gigabyte boards fit this budget build?

I am also looking for recommendations for a cheap gamer style keyboard and mouse (to fit budget as well).

Thank you
Coco

I have have an earlier generation of the GA-B150M-DS3H and it is solid.

A better board is the Garming 3 for $99. Improved onboard audio, and some goodies that will be nice for down the road potential upgrades. it is a fullsize ATX and won't work in the case I listed below.

A couple of suggestions in the build below. the RAM is one tick lower CAS latency (lower is better) , for a couple of dollars less. I would go with a 1050ti and if you can squeeze it into the budget consider a 1060.

If it were me, I would go for more graphics card and the B150 board.

Is it possible to run memories higher than 2133 when using H110/170 chipsets if I enable XMP?
