The 7 has HDMI 2.0 while the others don't. My UD5 does as well, which is why I didn't consider the Gaming 3/5.

Gaming 7 also has the Creative SoundCore 3D DAC as well as replaceable OP-AMPS for the headphone out, ASMEDIA chip for extra SATA Express port. And now the Thunderbolt port.

VRM on the 5 and 7 look to be the same while the 3 is cut down. 3's PCB is also brown..so out of the question lol.

If you think the 3/5/7 are confusing. The GT and 7 are even worse. All I can find is stuff on the audio side and a BIOS selector switch, which is rather useful actually, but pretty steep difference in price for rather minor changes.

Quick question about the trace path between the audio and main sections just outside the plastic IO cover thing, can you change the colour it lights up? I know there's something under the shroud that changes colour, but the trace path looks yellow like the UD5 in the official product photos.

There is another big difference in the Gaming 7 vs GT, the GT has 12+2 phase VRM's while the 7 has 10+1. The would allow better power delivery for overclocking. There is a few other minor differences.
$220 vs $300, if overclocking is your thing it might be worth it.

My 7 has a bios selector switch and the trace path is red and changeable through the app center.

The big jump is in the Gaming G1 or GA-Z170X-Gaming G1. 12+ 2 phases, twin Killer lan ports and Killer wireless, 3 upgradeable op amps, g1/4 thread ports for watercooling the VRM's, 2 x 16xPCI-E slots and 2 x 8xPCI-e slots and a few more things like armor over the sata ports even, that bring the price to $500.

Yes you can change all the colors through the gigabyte app pretty easily, wide variety of colors with different modes, its the trath path on the AMP UP Audio amp , all around that then a weird lil line on the bottom underneath the last 16 pcie slot. Its really well done, not too flashy to make it look silly but a decent accent. Although the white is off a bit greenish looking, which I have the cpu block as white and resvior so i just keep it red and looks great

Is there any way I can reduce/eliminate that logo on start up? It would shave off a lot of time when booting.

Right now my PC takes about 19.6 seconds on cold boot into Windows 10. On restart, it takes about 23 seconds. I think this is not normal. Should be far quicker than that. Any tips?

probably you have dvd disc in drive and takes so long for start up or some removable device.. or last thing could be problem with your hard drive.. check it with hdtune.. post here results

What a weird release. The ONLY difference I can see on their product comparison vs the Gaming5 is Support for "Sound Blaster X-Fi MB3". Stlil Realtek based just has this support. Whatever that means. What a waste of money to make a board just for that.

It seems from looking round the web that a lot of users of z170 boards regardless of manufacturers of both boards and RAM are having trouble with XMP.

I have a Gigabyte z170xp-SLI with four sticks of Corsair CMK32GX4M4A2666C16 RAM and an Intel i7-6700k 4GHz CPU.

After enabling XMP Profile 1 in the BIOS (the latest F5 revision) my machine will sometimes boot and sometimes it won't. I've also experienced BSOD's with both Windows 7 64 bit and after upgrading to Windows 10 64 bit.

The XMP profile sets the RAM to it's rated 2666MHz speed. When I reset to it's default setting in the BIOS (2133Mhz) my machine has been perfectly stable (for two weeks now) and Memtest shows no errors. This is not the case with XMP on....just tried to turn it on again last night and the same symptoms started again.

I've now tried manually setting both the speed to 2666Mhz and the first four timings (16-18-18-35) in the BIOS and will run Memtest tonight. Hopefully the machine will be more stable now. So far so good....

I am hoping that as the BIOS is revised things will improve.....

hello, Nano
you have a display with error code?
I have a G1 and only on the first boot I have left in A00
I always have to switch off and switch on, then okay
post #239 of 1694
Hi andytom - the display on the failed boot doesn't have any error code:

"The system has experienced a boot failure
possibly due to incorrect configuration
Previous settings in BIOS may not be compatible
with current hardware state"

Then some options to reset the bios to optimized defaults. I've been trying to replicate the symptoms again to take a screen shot by enabling XMP but the system is sporadic with these failures!

@rogue nano

have you checked the voltage?
for my board xmp does not change the voltage, i choose xmp 1 then i go into the voltage area and type in my voltage.
