My board won't post with XMP enabled, it just reverts back to 2133. I know they run stable at 3000mhz 1.35v so I will have to try manually OCing them

I'm a proud owner of a Gigabyte Gaming 7 and my 6700k is sitting at 4.7GHz with adaptive (normal) voltage and a +0.01V offset.

When using adaptive voltage I advise not to use use High or Auto LLC, my voltage shot up to 1.47V and my motherboard shut down when this combination was used. Standard LLC is currently providing 1.332 voltage under load using adaptive and +0.01 offset, I think that adaptive voltage counteracts Vdroop and so LLC is not required. I do feel that High LLC should not be available or a warning should pop up when it is used in combination with adaptive voltage.

I had the same issue with my G1 when i fired it up for the first time. I ended up putting one stick in one of the black slots and that allowed me to successfully boot. i switched from F3 to F4 and it ran fine for my initial testing with all four sticks in stock guise. When i finished my build, it had issues again and I switched between bios #1 (F4) and #2 (F3) and it refused until I removed the cmos battery a few times. F4 finally did get me back into the bios but w/ error "6b" which ultimately came up as being a video adapter cable issue. I was a bit reluctent to get GB again because I had ram issues w/ my G1 Z97 until I found a stable bios. So its something very common so I would recommend roll back one version and see what that does. From GB's site, it does not have any warnings about rolling back after installing a certain bios version. They did put this on the Z97 G1 and it pissed me off until i got it fixed. I'm glad they didn't do it for Z170. While i was trouble shooting my issues, I did come across many forums and sites indicating ram issues in general with Z170 boards from many manufacturers so I guess these are just teething problems that have to be ironed out over time with bios updates. interestingly enough, the Rampage V Extreme x99 booted with all four sticks and it was on an earlier bios version. Might be the controller is (obviously) much better on x99.

One of the most common fixes for a last resort if waiting for a bios update is no good for you is to switch your ram. I saw this as a common step for many frustrated users having ram issues. Funny how the slap the "skylake ready" sticker on everything and yet these boards are sketchy. My board is gorgeous so I'll put up with it and hopefully it ends up being as good as the Sniper 3 Z77 and Sniper 5 Z87 I had before.

I just registered here to Join to Gigabyte UD Motherboard thread. My recent purchase was as follow:

Intel Skylake 6500
GigaByte Z170 D3H
EVGA SSC 970 GTX
2TB Seagate @7200 HDD
EVGA B600 PSU Bronze
Cooler Master Storm Scout 2 Casing
8gb @2133 MHZ GSkill RipJaw Mem

First, the build is very solid smile.gif, playing everything at ultra @ 1080p/2k/4k. But I have some issues to ask, my apologies if its not the right place to ask:

1) My Dr.led light is just static (golden), in BIOS under peripheral it just has the option of Enable/Disable, no static/pulse or breathing option. My BIOS version is F5. How to enable this feature?
2) How reliable is the GB OC utility or should I do manually from BIOS.
3) Playing at 2k/4k stretches the display much larger then screen, how to fix that.
4) My screen goes black for 1-2sec sometimes, GPU temps are 50-60max. Is it because of bad HDMI cable?

Also which headphones are the best for gaming/movies, budget is around 200$max. Here only Corsair and Razor are available.

What else you guys recommend me smile.gif

Here's a shot of my completed build:

I'm waiting for a new displayport cable (dp to mini dp 3m) and I'll start dialing up the clocks on Skylake.

Hello guys, I would like to say that I've been encountering a lot of issues with my latest skylake build, I have two computers that have very similar configs

2 systems (mine and my brother's) both systems have the following:
6700k - GTX 980 Ti - 850w psus - ASUS Z170-A mobos - 16GB ddr4 mem (8x2 corsair and the other g.skill)

I've been encountering the APCI 5 / full system freezes at random times etc... with one system at first, the other system is running fine with no issues.

I went through a troubleshooting process where I went to switch ram sticks from one system to the other and I always encountered freezes / bluescreens when using one set of memory. I will post the memory model number once I get a chance to.

the corsair vengeance kit just did not want to run at all on one system but ran fine on the other.
