Thanks for replying. I am running Win 10. I've turned that setting off now. I can't seem to consistently reproduce the issue though. I've had it occur during Battlefield 4, Battlefront and The Division Beta so far, but not consistent with any of those programs.

Is that setting related to the DSP setting that disappeared from the bios?

Are you running Windows 10?

Go into the properties for the Creative soundcard (in device manager I believe) and find the checkbox that says "Enable Audio Enhancements" .. uncheck that.

I'm testing to see if that fixes it
Well, I don't think that setting is it. Just loaded up battlefield 4 and it happened frown.gif

Edit: woah, I discovered part of the problem. I loaded up BF4 and teamspeak. Problem started after about 30 secs. I just quit teamspeak and the problem went away. So this must have something to do with the prioritization of the hardware or something related to it in the driver

Edit2: it fixes it to a point. The volume range is off, so max volume for me right now is at level 2, BUT the bad static and sounds are gone. There has to be a quick fix for this....some sort of win 10 sound reset...

I have a feeling it is the new driver that is causing it. The one dated January 7, 2016 on Gigabyte's website. I can't find the older one and I don't have a DVD drive so I can't use the one that came with the motherboard. Could you upload that file somewhere and post the link here so I can download it and test it?

I think the reason this problem is only evident on Windows 10 (from what I've gathered so far) is this new driver and the fact that Microsoft is also serving it up so it auto-updates on Windows 10. I never had this issue before January 7th.

It might be related to the DSP option in the BIOS that, as you noticed, has been missing for quite a few BIOS releases now. I'm guessing they permanently set it to Enabled or Disabled and removed the option but it sure would be nice to be able to test.

In the meantime, try setting the Sample Rate and Bit Depth to DVD Quality in the properties (where you disabled Audio Enhancements I mentioned previously) and see if that fixes it.

I need help please because I cannot believe I am the only one running into this issue. Ok, I have an I7-6700k with a Gigabyte Z170X Gaming 7 and 4 x 8GB GSkill Ripjaw V ram. The bios I am using is F6 since it is the last stable non beta bios available. I am able to overclock to 4.5 Ghz, 1.32 VCore and High LLC with one hour of stability with real bench and IBT Very High.

Now, here is the issue: If I go to 4.6 Ghz or above, no matter the voltage, the cpu speed with downclock by 200 Mhz when stress testing. For instance, it will downclock to 4.4 Ghz from 4.6 Ghz when trying IBT. Also, 4.7 will downclock to 4.5. I have yet to find out why it is doing this and I have turned off ALL power saving features inside windows 10 and the bios. My ram is all set manually as well.

Someone else must have experienced this as well, right? Anyone able to help me please? I am using a Noctua NH-D15 and cpu is not overheating.

Bios clocking with the multiplier only. I have done it using the turbo multiplier and the base multiplier. The package temp is about 73C at full load.

Well, it looks as though Gigabyte has resolved my issues. smile.gif I have been in contact with them so they may have applied a fix in the F7r beta bios because now the 200 Mhz downclock no longer occurs. biggrin.gif I also reinstalled the MEI driver as suggested and that may have helped as well.
