Hmm, good to know. Thank you for correcting me.

I would still contend that you would be better off holding off on the 3rd card with the looming next gen .

Hi,

Don't know if this was covered already.
What are the differences between the Gaming 6 and Gaming 7 motherboard besides the color? Do the differences warrant enough to get a Gaming 7 over Gaming 6 and vice versa?

Thanks

The main differences is that the audio is better on the gaming 7 (sound blaster).

If you do not care about having a Creative audio controller over a Realtek, you don't care about the lit up IO shield, and you can spare some of the OC buttons and switches, the Z170X-Gaming 6 comes out to be a great value product.

Looks like a solid choice and to be honest ,also looks like it has good ram compatibility , but make sure to check to the gigabyte webby for the qualified ram modules , and if you don't care about a few leds on the io/shield which i have mine turned off as you can't see them anyway and the lack of the creative sound chip , which i don't use myself as i prefer my sound card , you're good to go , had this board been about when i was doing my latest build i may very well had gone for this to over my gaming 7 and saved a few pennies:thumb: thumb.gifthumb.gifthumb.gifthumb.gif

just a quick question about our motherboard , ( gaming 7 ) i see that it has thunderbolt 3 , as i only play games will i ever use this feature for anything, also and i'm not 100% sure what it does , i have had a quick read today and from what i understand is that it's more used when you want to connect a 4k @ 60fps display using the onboard graphics . If im not using it should i disable it in the bios ? , can it also be use the transfer files from your pc to a external HD ? at faster speeds .

I am considering holding off for a while. When the new cards come out, there will be a fire sale on the 980ti's.... smile.gif

I'm not an AMD fan, but I've read with Eyefinity all the monitors have to be plugged into the "master card" in a Crossfire (multiple card) arrangement. That may be the source of the Nvidia Surround myth.

Thanks for your comments... smile.gif
That's how amd does it, nvidia from what I've used since 09' in surround, typically had you connect them to all cards. The Surround setup will tell you where to plug in each monitor. Though, it required SLI to trigger Surround. Since the gtx 6xx series, you don't need sli and hence you have to plug in all monitors to (the) one card. Once you throw in a few more, again, the Surround wizard will tell you where each one goes (usually 1-2 will go to card #1 and 3 will go in to #2).

I should be getting this Gigabyte GA-X150m pro for review soon - http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128896, I am wondering why this board only supports certain CPU's like the Zeon E1200's i3's or the Pentium processors and not the i5 and i7's. Also since it's in the family can it be added to the club. I have the processor and RAM coming soon too since it seems also to be finicky with what RAM it will take, it does take EEC and non EEC RAM though but it looks like nothing over 2133 DDR4
