I'd like to start out by saying I loved the first batman game, loved sleeping dogs and had a pretty good time with shadow of mordor which all sport the same-ish style of game play as mad max.

Alright, here we go. I got Mad Max for 18 bucks and I still feel that I wasted my money and time and here is why. First of all I would like to comment on the graphics, not that I think that graphics really matter as much as people make it out to be but the fact that everyone is praising the game for looking amazing and running so well. The game does not look good. The textures and models look closer to something from the PS2/3 days and the only reason it looks kind of nice is because they heavily rely on shaders and blur to hide the fact that things just don't look very good which leads to why the game runs so well. It runs well because there is basically nothing going on. I was able to pull a minimum of 80fps and a near constant max of 100fps @ 1080 with my frames being limited to 100 as that is the refresh rate of my panel on my laptop. There are no complex models or detailed places to find while the game is supposed to be a barren wasteland I feel that they could have done it so much better. It just feels cheap and quick which is consistent with the rest of the game. The story line is crap, but who expected anything out of that department really? The fighting mechanics are the rehashed batman mechanics we are all too familiar now except that this feels much easier. I can't put my finger on it but the combat is just so damn easy that it feels like a chore you need to get through rather something you need to concentrate on and have some fun with. When I am fighting I find myself trying to think about other things and paying little attention to the actual task at hand because it is so boring and so easy. The vehicular combat holds up about the same as the hand to hand combat. It just feel uninspired and empty. You do the same basic things a couple times each time you meet a car or convoy and without much thought you win whatever it was you were after., There is no real reason to change your tactics or even think about what you are doing. Need to hit something perfectly every time with a weapon? Just hold a button and press another button and you hit home every damn time without any skill or thought. The rest of the game is like the combat, nothing special, repetitive and super easy. You do the same things over and over and over and over and over and over and over again it gets quite ridiculous. The initial fun that the game offers quickly turns into a quagmire of thinking to yourself... why am I still playing this? The game is so repetitive that I had to wait a few days between game sessions just to build up the want to go back and do the same things again a few times over. After 14 hours of game play and at least 6 hours of asking myself the question, why am I still playing this, every time I played I finally uninstalled it. I think the best feeling during this whole fiasco was the feeling of finally committing to uninstalling it and moving over to something more fun.

I am not about to knock people for liking the game as I know that everyone has different likes and dislikes although this is how I feel about the game and wanted to share my thoughts. So, feel free to disagree as that is what makes the open internet a wonderful place.

6/10 for a PC port done well, but a totally lacklustre and uninspired game.

Are there any config file tweaks to make graphics even better than in-game settings allow?

It's a totally valid opinion and he managed to say it without acting like an infant. He will be fine. He probably also won't hang out in here re-expressing his opinion every other day and acting like he is spreading some kind of gospel about the game that only the heathen can enjoy it..... Some people like the game and some don't. Notice, he also said it was opinion, by using phrases like " I feel such and such". He didn't act like every word out of his mouth is fact. He probably also manages to be wrong once in a while and admit it. I know these things are alien to you, but imagine if you will how adults communicate and you can see why he is fine.

I did not like it much. Its an OK game with a ton of potential and good optimized graphics, but it is empty, simple, and lacks a decent story. Its 7.5/10 - no dispute, denial or arguement there.

It's like a really old school console game with modern graphics. It does feel like a console port, but not in a bad way. It's not very deep or dynamic... and I'm sure at some point it was more survival based... the whole food/water thing just feels like they were separate but got merged into a single health bar. Initially tells you that destroying insignias reduces threat, which doesn't. A lot of little things that hint that the plans were scaled back early in development. A few scavenge locations that look like they were designed as camps.

Overall the map is fairly awesome considering it's supposed to be Mad Max universe.

I've played it for a while now and I'm pretty close to the end. At this point I'm trying to complete the requirements to get some of the latest updates for the Magnum Opus before moving on with the remaining story missions.

It's not a great game but a good one and it did pleasantly surprise me a bit. I think the overall design of the game and of the mechanics are solid but it relies too much on repetition.

It's a shame because I think the map is quite big and well designed but there simply aren't that many interesting locations worth exploring in detail. Probably the most interesting and atmospheric location is the one you go through in the mission to get the "lighties" for a certain character and that's past the middle of the game. I won't spoil it further, those who have played the game know what I'm talking about, but I just wish there were more such locations scattered around.

Another issue I have is with the random characters you meet around camps and such. They hardly have anything interesting to say. Any useful information will simply appear after you spoke to them as a text message. So basically you walk up to someone who'll say something and then a text message appears to translate that into actually useable information. Why have them speak in the first place or why not incorporate the usable information in their actual dialogue/monologue?

Clearing the minefields is also a tedious task and unfortunately is the only way to interact with the dog outside of a couple of missions. It's a pity because I find him a likeable NPC that could have had a bigger role in this game.

I do like how customizing the Magnum Opus is done. From the fact that you can choose a different car body at any point in the game to the trade-off between armor and weight this is probably the best aspect of the game. But it should be since it's what the game revolves around: build up the Magnum Opus and escape this region.

The car combat is also good with a good mix of ramming opponents while out-manoeuvring them all the while using weapons to stay ahead. Taking on convoys or multiple vehicles at the time is probably where the game is at its best, but unfortunately while you'll mostly be struggling at first, you'll be overpowering mid to late game.

The base building aspect is also good and while it can take a long time to find the required parts for the upgrades/projects the benefits are significant. A bit too significant though and they also add to the feeling of being overpowering at the end with you not having to scavenge for essential resources anymore: water, gas and scrap.

I'm also not a big fan of having seemingly arbitrary restrains on upgrades. While I may understand needing to reduce threat to certain level in a certain area to unlock something (though it isn't really explained in the game how this might work - it's just a game mechanic), I don't really get the need to eliminate all threat in a specific region for certain upgrades. Some upgrades are also locked until you finish certain missions and this becomes silly if the upgrades after those you can unlock. I ended up having the best ramming grill while the middle tier one is still locked due to some mission I'm yet to come upon, let alone start and finish.

Sure this might be a problem in an open world game where the player may choose the order in which things are accomplished, but still.

Coming back to the missions I'm a bit annoyed that if I start several and get objective locations on the map for each one, while hovering with the mouse over each location I do get the objective but the game doesn't tell me for which mission it is. This creates confusion when there are multiple active missions on the map and I don't know which is which.

There are a few other bits which also annoy me but there are good bits as well which compensate. I'll probably have a a concluding opinion after I finish the game.

Apart from all of this does anyone know if the Ripper will be made available to those who didn't get it by preordering? I quite like the design of the car body and I'd like to have it but there doesn't seem to be away to get this anyome.

Still have one problem.

In setting I set resolution 1920x1080(60hz) but when I save it the game dosent give a f*** and put it down to 50hz.

Game still run on vsynced 60fps all the time.

Anyone else with that issue?

Guys, I figured it out what the problem was. You cannot press "Apply", or "Save" by mouse to set the correct setting, you have to press "Enter" by the keyboard and then the right refresh rate will be switched on for good.
