I find the first statement hard to believe. Every review mentions that out of the box colors are bad. Were you aware of the Black eQualizer setting and did you disable that?

Of course. In fact, in my version update, it came disabled by default.

I have owned 4 BenQ monitors including this one and they all have come with the BE enabled default. Where did you order it from?

I won't sit here though and applaud this monitors color quality but for a TN and all the other specs considered after calibration it's as good as a TN can get. I would say the colors in the XB from Acer and my Dell Ultrasharp were the best but those are IPS panels so it's not a fair comparison....maybe the XB but with IPS comes IPS glow. Tradeoffs everywhere. tongue.gif

Directly from Benq. I think I'll stick with my Acer until freesync scalers are refreshed. Nothing against Benq.

Guys, I need help! I'm having a weird situation with my BenQ XL2730Z.

I've had this monitor for a few months and its been a pleasure to use, everything have worked perfectly, colors are awesome and I even made a detailed review about it because I was impressed by how good it was for a TN, but now I suddenly have a very disruptive issue.

Like any other day I turned my PC OFF after I was finished with my daily dosis of Gaming, all typical, but the next day (Today) I turn my PC on and I was feeling something weird on my mouse cursor, right from the desktop I could tell something was wrong, it was then that I realized the monitor was set to 100Hz instead of 144Hz by checking the resolution and Windows Refresh Rate Settings, the weird thing is I can't set it back up to 144Hz for whatever reason!

I turn off my PC Every day, I never put it to sleep or hibernate, I even have those services disabled ever since I have a RAID 0 SSD Setup, turning my PC ON and OFF takes no time, my monitor on the other hand is always ON, now that I think back I don't remember turning it off a single time for the last few months since I bought it.

Back to the issue, I have tried reinstalling drivers, updating to Crimson 16.3.1 which released just shy hours ago, uninstaling with DDU, I've tried using different cables, I bought right now a cable matters Displayport 1.2 and isn't working either, I tried DVI D but I obviously only get 60Hz with it, weird enough I could only get 120Hz using DVI-D when setting the resolution to 1920x1080p, I couldn't get it to 144Hz no matter the resolution.

My GPU can't be the problem as I've had it for the longest time now, a R9 390X, what can I do? Any Suggestions? I've tried resetting the settings from the BenQ OSD, now I'm sitting here with some crap colors and a half working monitor.

Why do you have it as generic monitor and not it's driver?
Did you check if pivot sensor is enabled? Has to be enabled for some users including me to get higher frequencies.
You can also try to uninstall and reinstall the monitor.
You can also clean the monitors registry entries - I wrote about it when you look at the previous posts here.
And you can also reset the monitor to factory default.

Alright, I found someone claiming that leaving the monitor and PC unplugged for the night fixed the issue so I will try all of your suggestions tomorrow morning, I dont know why it shows as a Generic Monitor, I thought it was because of a driver issue but after clean installing the latest crimson drivers I am sure the reason lies somewhere else because the clean Install didnt work

How I can Install and Uninstall the monitor? Do BenQ have drivers available or something?

I will look about the Monitor Registry on your previous posts tomorrow morning

Also I reseted the monitor to factory default from the OSD Menu, is there any other way to do it? Because the OSD reset didnt worked, when I was unplugging the monitor I noticed a Pink Hole (Like a 2.5 Female Microphone Plug) next to the power Plug, I remember thinking that it looked like one of those reset buttons that you can only press with a Needle.

I will update tomorrow if leaving the monitor unplugged or any of the above fixes manages to fix this issue.
PD: I tried with CRU but that thing didnt do anything.

I have absolutely no idea how or why it worked, but leaving both the computer and monitor unplugged over night solved my issue, that's amazing, I wasn't hoping much from this.

Still shows as Generic PnP monitor but now I can set it up to 144Hz, strange.

BTW: I didn't took a picture of this before, but when I couldn't set the refresh rate to 144Hz I was stuck at 6 Bits color depth, but now leaving things unplugged overnight fixed it I can once again pick 8 Bit Color Depth

Yes there is an advanced way to clear the user settings by pressing buttons at startup.
You would have to find it back somehwere in this thread too.

So you have windows 10, you could just go into the device manager and right click on the monitor and do the driver update and it should download the Benq driver and color profile.
I really suggest to do this.
