[Official] BenQ XL2730Z Owner's Club - Page 50

I don't think my standards are low. Mostly its the opposite really.

But I have to say I did receive a good sample. No stuck/dead pixels. Have not tested bleed in a completely dark room but so far its not noteable.

And glow is more something with IPS panels. right?

Yes, glow is only a problem with IPS Panels.

Wait a few days and check again for bleed please. The bleed on my monitors develops over several days.

Looking for some advice/experience on blur reduction and its settings (intensity and area).

What do you guys use?
I don't really mind the brightness dim. 100% with intensity 10 is plenty bright. Although some more would be nice.

Looking forward to your experience.
Thanks smile.gif

The first page of this thread has a few sets of settings that people use. Should be able to find what you want there.

Today I got my new xl2730z monitor. I am still waiting on my amd graphic card and right now I am using a gtx 760.
Everything seems fine except a weird and somehow annoying issue. I can notice it especially when I play. Basically, when I move (usually fast movement with the mouse) I can see vertical lines. It's like cross hatching but I am not sure it's that because the lines are not crossing....they are just vertical.
I am not sure if this is normal or not. Should I just call Benq? Should I wait for the amd card and see if something changes with freesync on?

Sounds like either your Graphics card or Monitor is dying out.

If it's your mouse pointer turning into something like this:

then it's fine and its just a driver glitch.

well with both my second monitor and the other benq (different model) i don't have this issue. It's just when I move around fast (even when I move my head). I see these vertical lines for like 1/4 of a second.

EDIT: I read old posts here and my issue is referred to "screen door effect". However, I only saw one person mention it. Do you have more info?

If you could fins us a photo/video of this it would make it easier to know what it is.

But when in doubt, BenQ's support have always been magnificent, just RMA it.

Shouldn't make a real difference without or without FreeSync.
Are you able to test the screen on another system? To rule things out.

By the way.
@Dargonplay

I am still very happy with my choice (xl2730z).
Thanks for the tips again.

It is definitely a big step up. 23 to 27 inch, 1080p to 1440p AND 60 to 144hz. Oh boy. biggrin.gif
Still I have no comparison with other screens but so far I am happy. Gaming, especially fast games, are just lovely.

I am not sure on my calibration though. When I do the tests on Lagom (particularly Gamma) it seems to be pretty far of. Nowhere near 2.2 although I doubt these tests are reliable. Experience is nice so I doubt it is worth it to buy a calibration tool (Spyder etc.) to calibrate while I pretty much do nothing with editing which requires 100% accuracy.

Currently using:
  • Standard
  • 15 brightness
  • 50 contrast
  • 5 sharpness
  • Gamma 3
  • rgb: 95, 99, 100
  • AMA High
  • Blur off
  • Black EQ 0
  • Color Vibrance 10
  • Blue light 0
  • Instant On

And for games where I can get 143-144fps 99% of the time:
Same as above except:
  • 80 bright
  • Blur On
  • Intensity 10
  • Area 10
  • Color 11

Any tips?

Unfortunately, I cannot really find a pic that it's close to my issue. If you google screen door effect you can see it but it's magnified compared to what I have.

I will contact Benq and and RMA it. Do you guys know if they do cross shipping?

I also had these vertical lines, for example in Tomb Raider - they looked like interlace, not like tearing.
Look which resolution and refresh rate is used when this happens in the monitor menu (not in the game menu or win settings).

When you play 1920x1080 and it scales to 2560x1440 at 100Hz it looks way worse than when it's displayed at 1920x1080 at 120 or 144 Hz.

This drives me mad that some games will use 100Hz which will look blurry on this screen compared to 120 and 144 Hz.

Right now with Witcher 3 I have the same problem that it would use 100Hz scaled to 2560x1440.

To get the 1920x1080 resolution at 120Hz I have to set this in windows and use borderless in game which is really annoying.
Same for games like Metro.

I wrote this earlier here that the monitor uses some weird internal scaling. And games aren't flixible with setting the refresh rate.
Also setting "max possible refresh" rate in the game menu of the Nvidia driver would have no effect when this occurs.

If you can't fallow what I am writing here, just observe the "current resolution" in the "information menu" when you start games and compare various resolutions and refresh rates.
