[Chrome blog] Chrome improvements for a faster and more efficient web - Page 6

I've been using Waterfox for several years now. Wonder if I should try something else. Not sure if it's my bloated history or what but it's been sluggish to start up lately

I have absolutely no idea what you people are doing to break ad blocker, over a dozen systems on the new version of chrome and ad block works perfectly fine for youtube. I even went out of my way to completely reformat a system so I could do a clean install of chrome and adblock and with absolutely ZERO changes to chrome/adblock it works perfectly.

In reality however this is the worst chrome update to date.
1st the adblock can't block adds on youtube, and they are now non skipable.
2nd the ever so annoying redundant google search box in new tab/page is now coded to be there when you use google as default search engine. No more the option to disable it.
3rd the actual speed of chrome is slower. Even new tab (empty) loads slower.

And the memory consumption is the same, I did a test few weeks ago to compare it with FF. However 10% is hard to notice.

I'm almost crying because I forgot to disable auto-update for chrome since last fresh install, I guess FF here I come.
Version 46.0.2490.13 beta-m (64-bit)

If true I'm moving to Firefox in a heartbeat, I like to choose which websites I support by disabling adblock on those. Youtube isn't one of them with their intrusive 30sec long ads.

Oh, that explains why I am suddenly getting so many freaking ads on Youtube despite Adblock. Guess I need to start looking elsewhere for browsers. I don't care for FF, so I don't know where to turn to anymore.

Also, in my experience, Chrome seems to just run away with RAM utilization. So I really have to laugh at this notion of "improved efficiency". Last I saw of Chrome on my Win7 box, it has a long way to go.

If you run a 64-bit operating system, you can choose to download and install a native 64-bit version of Pale Moon, a so-called "x64 build".
Without having to use the 32-bit compatibility layer in 64-bit Windows, native 64-bit browsers in general run faster and more efficient than their 32-bit counterparts, although synthetic tests will not provide you with conclusive results. Most notably, you may see lower CPU strain running Pale Moon x64 on complex/processor-intensive web sites or sites with large amounts of data like media sites, and it will be especially beneficial if you regularly open a very large number of websites concurrently (since a 64-bit version can address all your PC's memory).

out of curiosity what functionality do you use tab mix plus for that cyberfox's customizations dont have? I used to use tab mix plus but haven't now for some time.
