I also had that problem of EK not selling the vario D5 with the XRes 140 but then i saw the X3 tube with 104mm and went for the XRes 100 + X3 104mm that equals the XRes 140 wink.gif

I think though at the time the 140+PWM XRES and the PWM XTOP's were the only ones available, of which I didn't want any other res's or tops as IMO the X series is the best looking ones currently around.

Looking back at the market now in AU and it still seems that the 140+PWM is the only XRES option, but all the XTOP's are available both separately and with PWM's. It also looks like the other manufacturers have stepped up too as there's some pretty cool looking options, one of which from XSPC that would have worked very well in my case...

There's also now a glass variant of the XRES, however I don't see any individual parts for it to upgrade an existing XRES, however also I'm not sure if the bases are compatible as the glass has a stainless steel tube with pretty large screw threads on each end...

My strange strange motherboard... was changing some fans and then i thought i would try to connect the D5 pump to a chassis PWM fan port and to my amazement the pump responded to the PWM control, so in theory i don't have to make the special pump pullup, but i'll make it anyway.

So for those who have PWM issues then you might want to try a regular PWM plug and not just the CPU specific.

Hello

is that the kit EK-XTOP Revo D5 is "quietest" than the kit EK-XTOP D5 ?
If D5 is quieter with this kit in fact

Thanks

Hi all

hoping someone can help me, I have watercooled a few pc's over the years with non pwm controlled d5 pumps

I have 2x https://www.pccasegear.com/products/...eservoir-combo

and I have http://download.gigabyte.asia/FileLi...x99p-sli_e.pdf

can you please advise if I need to switch out the pwm pin layout on the plug to power both of these from the motherboard

sorry if this is a silly question

Hi there, your links are broken, but the header for pumps is so you can control it seperately from fans in the bios. If it was me I'd plug both pumps into the Pump header using a fan splitter cable or Y-Cable. Hope this helps.

If you're using a case that has cable mangement behind the motherboard tray then just route the splitter behind there so it just looks like a normal fan cable, the pump cables are normally really really long so should reach. failing that just plug them into a chassis header and keep it at a speed you want.

You will need to connect the Pump to the CPU_Fan header otherwise the PWM function will not work.
